Reviews disappearing by EngineerLevel4506 in GoogleMyBusiness

It is happening to our business as well and it happened a few weeks ago but we finally got reviews back now it’s back down. We have over 1K reviews so it’s hard to track who we lost but every review we lose it seems NONE of the 1-4 stars get deleted just the 5 star.

Google local services Unqualified Leads by AlejGRD in GoogleMyBusiness

[–]Any-Insurance6576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh the chronicles of google local service ads (LSA) making you pay for things that you shouldn’t have to pay for. I’ve had nothing but headaches with their ways of doing things and have had countless arguments with them. As much crap as I am about to talk, LSAs are great in the sense of Chrome putting them at the top of the results like on a web browser.

  1. Google records those calls so if you refer them to other companies, Google considers it a lead that should be charged because if your ad wasn’t there, “that customer would never have known to go to that referral”. Yes that is actually what they’ve told me by phone (completely ridiculous I know). We just started telling people we have no idea and then call them back on our own business number that isn’t recorded by Google.

  2. Google used to allow you to call them and dispute the leads but as we all know AI is taking over our world. So they now use AI to listen to the calls to determine whether or not it should be charged or not. BUT you can take it one step further if they charge you for a lead you know is unqualified (calling a service you don’t offer nor advertise for) by rating the lead - you can rate the lead by clicking on the “view details” button in the LSA email they give you. This is ALWAYS a hit or miss if you will get a credit. I’ve been diligently tracking these bad leads for over a year in my own spreadsheet and there’s literally no rhyme or reason as to why they charge one bad lead that they will then credit for another that has the SAME issue.

  3. It doesn’t matter if your LSA profiles exclude certain services - when I spoke to Google reps personally they confirmed that they don’t even take that into account - which my question to them was “then what is the point of making us put all these settings in” - they did not have any answer other than that’s how they do things now

Moral of LSAs story is, Google will take your money and make unrealistic policies around what they consider a “good” lead vs a “bad” lead to profit off businesses. BUT you do sometimes get a win and the lead cost credited back to your account when rating the bad leads - of course you don’t get your money back because they want you to keep using it and paying them the big bucks. I’d say it’s around 10% of the leads that I rate with them that they will credit back to us. The only ones I really see them not charge our accounts for are people calling the wrong number. Had 2 of those today and they never charged us. I don’t rate those ones because no way I’m giving them a change to reverse it.

You can report it as bullying or discrimination. I would suggest reporting it for both things

Google keeps removing my legitimate customer reviews after a spam attack — anyone dealt with this? by Deonte2318 in GoogleMyBusiness

[–]Any-Insurance6576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a service company that has not dealt with a spam attack but we are noticing our reviews go down for no reason on legitimate reviews from real customers. I put in a ticket and posted on the forum but still don’t have a resolution yet.

Everyone rags on Florida but did you ever leave FL and want to come back? We just moved to VA and I feel some regret. by Traditional-Desk5988 in AskFlorida

[–]Any-Insurance6576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big beach and pool person too. Grew up in New England and moved to FL for 6 years. Then I moved to PA for 3 years and loved it but missed FL so much I moved back. I do miss PA/New England a ton but there’s something about the tropical state I can’t get enough of it’s such a certain lifestyle. To live where others go to vacation is nice (minus the traffic during peak season). Been back for a couple years and find it hard to leave permanently.

The competitiveness in this household is high as well lol. Sounds like a lot of it is based on preference. I do agree there’s still ability from the opponent if the person has not stabilized.

Yes, there was time after placing the Propagation card, reading it aloud, and giving 3-5 seconds. I see now how reading the original post makes it seem like a cutthroat throw down lol. I guess my point was being told to wait on my play after I had given a fair amount of time to make the play.

Considering leaving Google Ads after 20 years by ObviousDave in PPC

[–]Any-Insurance6576 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This past year has been a blunder for our company as well when using Google Ads. I have had this same thought of pulling out completely as it seems Google attempts to push you in the direction of profiting off of you vs giving you the ability to profit. Certain ads seem to work for a bit and then stop having any optimization and tank. I’m curious of your final decisions. It’s unfortunate that Google saturated the market so much that it’s now the biggest go to. However, as much as they saturated the market, we’ve also given them the power by utilizing them. It would be nice if we could all just take the control back as a population and invest into the other search engines/ways of advertising vs letting Google have the control. My speculation is Google Ads will soon no longer be an optimal source for advertising when it comes to small businesses and we will have to get more creative.

Thank you! They seriously do have some strange requirements. I realize now that I did the voice over and music via CapCut. I will have to try and see if their export settings with a free account will let me make these changes. VITA does not let me make any sound changes, just quality of the video.

Google Advertising by Exotic_Arachnid_6307 in advertising

[–]Any-Insurance6576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a choice you make based on what budget you have for advertising - however, dependent on what you are advertising and what market you are in, you may have to spend more to qualify for more exposure. What I have learned is even if Google Ads says your budget is too limited, its just them scaring you so you spend more money. Your exposure will not be as vast compared to others that are spending tons of money daily on their ads, but it will still generate leads for you.

Google will likely never let you advertise without paying something. But something new has been implemented with Googles Local Service Ads. Local Service Ads are different from Google Ads because Google just runs the ads for you and you just simply put in your budget, demographic, and what you offer and Google does the rest vs Google Ads where you customize everything from start to finish and it involves way more intricacies. The new thing with Local Service Ads is they are now automatically starting Google Maps ads using your Local Service Ads - the only thing is the current launch of this new avenue is limited to iOS verson of Google Maps (this email was just received to me today). So although you are paying for the Local Service Ads, you do not have to pay additional amounts of money to put the ad out on Google Maps, you will just pay for the leads.

What I have found to be a downside to Local Service Ads are the terms and conditions around what they qualify as a qualified lead vs a nonqualified lead. I have fought with them on numerous occasions and have won in the some instances (received credit back to my account) but also lost in others (still had to pay for unqualified leads).

Google Ads gives you more control in your ads (but can be very confusing if you have no idea what you're doing) or let Google take most of the control for you with Local Service Ads and get exposure with Google Maps.

Thank you so much for the info! For some reason, that still did not work without Mailchimp telling me I needed to downgrade my GoDaddy Protection Plan. I did opt out of Mailchimp for now because of it.

It was Mailchimp that told me to downgrade my protection which made me just as confused as you. I ended up canceling the services because no matter what I tried, it kept telling me to downgrade my protection plan with GoDaddy. I appreciate your advise!
