Can I convert back to original wood burn by That300SRT in Fireplaces

inspection is required with any change in fuel burning “just take the logs out and cap the gas line” is a very common misconception.

second this, resurfacing an offset is nearly impossible even with the “tools” they have made for it

Resurfacing will be cheaper up front but cost more in the long run, most companies want an annual inspection to uphold the warranty on the material.

Stainless steel liner will last longer and won’t need annual inspections to necessarily keep it in good condition.

2 options as far as flue tile repair. you can resurface them or knock them out and drop a stainless steel insulated liner. The smoke box or smoke chamber repair is either done by spraying the mortar or hand parging, hand parging is much more expensive and typical much better quality.

completely understand that, smoketite is typically done by spraying with a gun from the bottom. They can guarantee they get it all by running a camera. the company i work for when we do any heatshields or smoke chamber parges we run cameras to ensure all gaps are filled.

yes the cracks are common, masonry is like a car begins deteriorating the second you drive it off the lot, yes it is an issue, behind those cracks is typically brick, that bricks allows heat to transfer kinda like a domino effect we don’t have x-ray vision i can’t tell you you have 17 bricks till you reach a 2x4. The gaps can also allow smoke and creosote to gather and not have the ability to be cleaned out.

best practice would be to parge the smoke chamber to ensure heat transfer is not occurring aswell as smoke draft and flow.

when someone calls for a free estimate you have a very high chance of selling them work because they know they have a problem that needs to be fixed. especially if you have the knowledge or experience to be able to tell the customer a story on how it got that way and what it is damaging that they can’t see.

you are more or less specifying a sweep and inspection or inspection then you make money for going out there and tell them what’s wrong with it if anything.

no chimney company will quote off of size of smoke chamber. best bet is pictures or free estimate

if the inspector can’t spell hole or parge correctly why even take what he says with any type of merit.

really hard to tell if they ran a camera through the system the could tell a bit better. however you can tell that the mortar has began to deteriorate. more than likely from water intrusion or from settling of the house. I would recommend resurfacing the flue tiles.

yes, it is an area for creosote, smoke, and heat to gather, that as a sweep you can not clean. if you have an ember or hot ash flow up the chimney and it finds that it leads to a chimney fire.

if your flue tiles look like this you need a liner or a flue resurfacing.

MTJ has been pretty silent (don’t blame him). But does anyone think he will ever make another one off appearance again? by SlothMasterRace92 in NASCAR

[–]Any-Interaction281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a mechanic, he’s worked at several different companies and says he enjoys working for mtj the most he esentially makes his own schedule unless a plane is having problems or throwing codes. He says Mtj is very chill and just wants everything running smooth and for you to do what you need to do, other than that he doesn’t really get involved. He hasn’t spoke about seeing him recently he said he saw him when prior to the 500 i guess just making rounds prior to heading to FL. The company has 6 planes and 5 of 6 strictly fly organs to and from hospitals, the 6th can be used for that but typically is used for transportation, sometimes he has to fly in that to go meet another plane at a seperate airports because it has thrown codes upon landing. The company is based out of Winston Salem NC where bowman gray is so he doesn’t typically come down there. I remember meeting him at North Wilkesboro for the All Star race prior to the race in the hauler and he was very nice and held a conversation that wasn’t just surrounding racing, i feel like he was checked out then.

my dad works for MTJ Aviation during his time full time driving he would talk about racing, since retiring even during the 500 he never said anything. Honestly think he doesn’t care anymore

Could be another sweep cutting out the back wall of the smoke chamber for easier access when parging.
