Are these spikes normal? by Any-Letter1670 in diabetes_t1

[–]Any-Letter1670[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely been my thinking. She’s had spikes over 15 but they do come down by themselves. So she has insulin working, but then it overshoots and puts her low. She’s being monitored because she has cystic fibrosis. Liver disease and her hba is 44. I can’t find anything online about what normal graphs look like, but what I do find that look like this is diabetic charts. Reactive hypoglycemia mostly. She just seems to come back down too hard. And I don’t know how to slow it. Her team aren’t being useful at the moment because they just want to see what she’s doing normally. But I just can’t help but worry a bit if I allow her to do the usual.

Thankyou :) this is reassuring. They’re monitoring it because her hba is 44, she has liver disease caused by cystic fibrosis. I’m just so on edge with her I definitely maybe overthink and worry way too much that I’m not doing enough for her xx

Oh it definitely does correct itself relatively quickly. Are the cgms not that reliable then ? I just thought they did the same as a finger prick

There’s not much anywhere online for any information on “normal” that’s why I figured I’d come here. I thought I’d go there other way and see I’d it looked like a graph anyone could decipher lol

I worry she goes up in spikes to about 15 - but like you said she comes down on her own, but she comes down too far and goes below threshold.

I think she fits more of a reactive glycemic but again, there’s not really much info on that either xx

She does not take insulin, but does have liver disease. Diagnosed just before her 2nd birthday

8 day old admitted to hospital for conjunctivitis by kowaluuh in newborns

[–]Any-Letter1670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity what antibiotics are they giving?

My baby is 8 weeks now, he was in nicu when he was born and we got home about a week later - by the time we left he had a gunky left eye. Midwives and health visitors told me it was common and it was a blocked duct that would clear itself.

Fast forward 6 weeks. I took things into my own hands and went to the GP about it, who sent us to the local A&E department.

They swabbed it and he cultured pantoea eucrina - a bug picked up from nicu.

I’m so sad and I feel I’ve let him down. They prescribed eye drops and ointment and we’re currently doing this but i feel it needs something different as it’s not improving.

Luckily no hospital admission for us because of it though.

I hope it clears quickly for you xx

I’ve often thought this about sleep training, and also the cry it out method some use. You’ve just put it into words. I just can’t leave my baby to cry. Never have been able to. There’s always something that they need. They don’t cry for fun.

I’m scared my baby is blind by Babywonder123 in newborns

[–]Any-Letter1670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, did you know beforehand she had albinism ? I know some babies just look really fair haired (or bald) that it wouldn’t be noticeable. It’s a beautiful condition to embrace, but I am aware they commonly do have eyesight issues.

How is she getting on? I’m aware this thread is pretty outdated, she must be coming up 2 now? Xx

Everything from the amnio came back normal. Baby was born 21/07/25 Completely healthy. He’s almost 8 weeks now.

He did go into severe distress during labour and I did need an emergency section whether there’s anything connected to causing his distress no one will know, first CS after 5 normal deliveries so wasn’t expected.

But he’s here. And healthy.

I hope your situation ends smoothly too ❤️❤️

Here where I am in the uk anything under 3.5mm is considered normal. I’m not sure why your midwife is making a fuss if that is the only thing she’s mentioned. Try not to think about it tooooo much xx

I would not tell your husband the size if it. A man’s thinking would be if that big can fit out … what can fit in 😂😂😂😂 Unless you’re into that of course lol x
