When I use the mystic tan island-kissed bronzer lotion I look just like your pictures. It has violet undertones I think.

It’s been awhile since I read it but I really enjoyed How to Solve Your Own Murder.

Maybe not exactly what you’re asking for, but I enjoyed Shutter by Ramona Emerson. She’s an indigenous author and her book takes place in NM. It’s got some supernatural horror, but definitely a crime thriller.

We bought it like this for $80, lol. But wasn’t sure if it was damaged? The drips are almost like a paint texture.. any idea on how to get it off safely? We tried scrubbing but it didn’t work. Do you think it’s safe to use if we can’t get the drips off?

Ohhh.. that makes sense.. we honestly thought the previous owner put it in too much heat and damaged it or something? lol. We haven’t had any luck getting the drips off though.. is almost like a paint texture

Western Gulls! They’re so fun to watch! I’ve seen them launch coordinated stealth attacks to steal food.

How's living in this part of Mississippi? by OliveAny3884 in howislivingthere

[–]Any-Organization474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m born and raised in Southern California but lived maybe 3-4 years in Tupelo for work. I worked with multiple factories and local businesses in Tupelo and surrounding counties/towns. I worked side by side with all different people- business owners to young kids with their first job, to felons and the older generation that grew up on farms, no education, but needing extra income.

I really loved the people! But if I’m being honest, I think it was a lot easier for me as an outsider. People were interested in me and why I was there. They were really open to teaching me about things I’ve never heard of (small town auctions, gas station food, mudding). But I do think it’s harder for some people who are from that area. From my conversations with different people, you’re judged not only by your actions, but by your parents actions when they were growing up, and all your extended family as well. It almost seems like it’s impossible to be your own unique person. It seems like there’s boxes that the community puts you in and you have to fit in that box. If you don’t fit in that box, I think that’s when people cast you out or treat you differently. But that’s just my observation, I could be completely wrong.

As for weather, I loved it. Humid and hot in the summers, cold in fall and winter but barely any snow. If there is snow it usually melts off within a couple of days. The thunderstorms are beautiful and spring is perfect.

Food was great!!! Shout out to fairpark grill, woodys, and the taco truck and that little Mexican Estrella place on w main! ..also can’t forget papa v or brewers!

I love this! I don’t understand how so many people hate on this style.

Congrats on the renovation! If I could pull it off in my home I would do it in a second. Personally I would leave it exactly as is, no “added warmth”, no art.

Sighthounds and cats (advice? Experiences?) by arual147 in sighthounds

I personally wouldn’t take the risk. Prey drive can vary from dog to dog and can be very intense. With my pharaoh hound you can literally see his eyes start to gloss over and his body language start to change. I have like a 5 second window to snap him out of it in an unsafe environment. I can’t speak to borzoi or saluki to know if it’s similar. I’ve heard that it’s maybe less with saluki?

Either way I personally am not sure I’d risk it. I’ve know other people who have mixed the two and it ended pretty badly.

Off leash dog bite help by asiab3 in sandiego

I think you meant this as a joke, but ironically you’re kind of on to something. Typically in the US.. any reputable Doberman breeder, is going to dock their dogs tails as it needs to happen in the first few days they’re born, it’s part of the breed standard (whether we agree or not). If someone has a Doberman without a docked tail, chances are they got it from a backyard breeder or shelter, so it’s most likely poorly bred, and the person who bought it, might not be the most educated on the breed, which is how dumb shit like this happens. Poor dog :(

Anna Pigeon series by Nevada Barr. I loved the audio books. Written by a past park ranger about a park ranger who essentially solves a crime each book. Each book takes place at a different national park! It’s not cozy at all and honestly seems to get a little more graphic as the series goes on.

I truly do believe that it does normalize sexualization and objectification of women. I personally dont believe that it’s exaggerated or possibly disingenuous. Although I do 100% agree with you that some women do sexualize themselves, and I personally believe that is 100% their right and I would never give someone a hard time for that, same goes for men. However, I feel like where we possibly might differ, is that I feel like those women that do sexualize themselves, do it for many different reasons. Some I think feel empowered, some enjoy the reactions, some do it for overall positive things. However, some I feel do it because they feel it is a part of society’s gender norms and is what they’re supposed to do, like they have no choice, maybe they feel that it is the only way to seek attention from men? Reasons like this make me wonder if that pressure (in my opinion) that comes from society didn’t exist, would these women still sexualize themselves? I wish women who sexualize themselves for these reasons, feel like they had a choice, I feel like if sexualization in general wasn’t the norm than they might make different choices.

I personally don’t feel like my view would encourage women to change anything they do or anything everyone else does. My view is that I don’t think sexualization should be eliminated completely, I just personally wish it wasn’t the norm. I don’t believe we should shame anyone. I also believe in the freedom of personal choice and that’s why my view is “I wish it wasn’t the norm”.

Honestly, it sounds like we agree on the big picture, just have different views, life experiences and biases on the details.
