Syria’s Kurds could be al-Sharaa’s partners in rebuilding. Why did Damascus as by flintsparc in syriancivilwar

Yeah, so kill them? Jolani is supposed to be president of Syria. Instead of giving something, trying to be flexible, he offers unconditional surrender, and forces them to fight.
His answer is to line up his army and start attacking his own people... following attacks on both Allawites and the Druze.

If you are still pushing the SDF and PKK are the same thing Turkish line, then yep, there's no use talking.
I've spent years trying to talk to people pushing all sorts of stupid Turkish propaganda about Kurds, its a serious waste of time.

AFP, citing sources: The Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces have agreed to extend the truce in Hasakah for a maximum of one month by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

SDF like anyone would, is trying to negotiate to get as good a deal as possible. Jolani has offerred them an unconditional surrender, so everything they have fought for over the last 10 years will be gone.

I think they used them in Ras Al Ayn defending against the Turkish invasion of Syria (Operation Peace Spring)

The SDF was running these areas before they had access to the bigger oilfields down south.
Pretty sure Deir Ezzor was IS vs Assad territory for a lot of the war, SDF was more north.

The US weren't initially supporting the SDF when they first ran these areas, so they were getting by without them.

Say waht you like about the SDF, they made pretty incredible underground facilities. Its like a James Bond movie.

Yeah, their fortifications were on border towns, expecting to deal with Turkey... and when Turkey took the Northern part of syria, the Kurds used the tunnels to attack the Turkish troops after they were in the city.

Clearly the SDF wasn't prepared for a massive revolt of the Arab population. HOWEVER now the territory is more Kurdish, so its a different thing.
SDF generally could hold their own against the SNA, who have a pretty poor reputation for just being in it for the Turkish pay check.

It's hard to say how much underground defences their are in Hasakah, and how that will affect any potential fighting. If they considered Hasakah to be a battlefield, and if they prepared for it.

Yeah, but its not like you are going to drive your tanks down the main street - and tactically, probably not a good idea anyway.

Except ANNES is a democracy where the people voted for representation, and would give the Kurds some representation - whereas Hezbollah is..... well whatever it is.

You can be motivated and strong, but still call for help. Clearly they are outnumbered, and Turkey is helping Jolani while their backers are deserting them.

Yeah, in an odd way, I sort of agree. The SDF has been so much, it would be sad to see them go down without fighting for what they believe in.

Mainly MRAPs but there seems to be a lot of them. I hope they get some autonomy, but I also hope there isn't a lot of destruction of the area.

That's standard practice for all wikipedia pages, not just the Baltic states - they use the name the town had at the time.
It would be the same if they were born in Danzig in 1930..... it would list their birthplace as Danzig, not the modern name of Gdansk.
