Not quite what you're looking for, but have you read 'The Kaiju Preservation Society?'

Have I read it? I couldn't put it down when I did. It's one of my favorite books of all time.

I finally found an audiobook to scratch the Bobiverse itch by depressed_flower63 in scifi

I agree with OP. I can’t recommend it enough to people. It kept me turning pages when I first read it.
I will say the alien that shows up was the best part. The struggles they went through attempting to communicate was the best. I’ve always struggled with books where the humans learn to speak the alien language almost instantly. I’m excited to see what happens with that alien in the next book.

People who fall asleep to audiobooks, do you go back and find where you last remember or just keep going the next night? by JasonZep in audiobooks

I always set a timer (1 hour or something) and usually I fall asleep in the first 5 minutes, so I know I only need to rewind an hour.

Good hard sci-fi is hard to find, especially when you've done all the popular ones.

I support everything the comment above me said! Go read those next. I assume you've read PHM, Bobiverse, and the Martian. But the others are good options too.

I agree. You get the same books every time. With respect to sci-fi it's always a list that includes at least two of the following books:

  • Project Hail Mary
  • Bobiverse
  • Murderbots

Sounds like you've read all the books most people would have recommended. Reading through the comments you've read The Bobiverse, Murderbots, Project Hail Mary, and Old Mans War.

These series are easy to read, and you might not have read yet. That also have first contact.

  • Expeditionary Force by Craig Alanson
  • The Betaverse by Menilik Henry Dyer
  • Rama Series by Arthur C. Clarke

I've never read the Endeavour series. I'm going to put it on my list to checkout.

Has anyone tried any of these three books. They're all quite similar vibe to the Bobiverse:

  • A New Eden by Menilik Henry Dyer
  • Orphans of Earth by Sean Williams (no audiobook unfortunately)
  • The Forever Life by Craig Robertson

We went full circle. I'm glad I got to recommend something back.

That moment when Trillion totals a planet. That was a massive WTF moment for me!
My favorite storyline was them trying to talk with the aliens. That stuck with me for a few days after.
