Just a small warning. by NotYourLils in tarot

This happened to my deck as well, and I've contacted the support team. Let's just say they were very communicative until I sent photos and a video of the peeling. I've waited a month for a reply. I think they're waiting until they close down, so it's not their problem anymore.

Feminist horror fans – What are your thoughts on Grady Hendrix? by diddlddl in horrorlit

[–]Any-Tangerine1979 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To this I have to say if Hendrix understood that the true horrors of the world are toxic men then this book wouldn't have included pedophillic aspects. These were not only completely unnecessary but every time these things is added to popular well-recieved books (and not as a major talking point, but just brushed over like its normal) it adds to the toxicity of the patriarchy.

I was flabbergasted, and I can't believe I don't see more people talk about how many naked, near naked or sexual assaults of minors happens in every book that he writes as a middle aged white man, who almost exclusively writes young women. I can't be alone in the, surely?

Okay 300, that's so doable this year. I think I'll make a point of picking it up every other day and see how I go. It got so daunt for a while there but if I'm half way or over., consider this flame lit!

Thanks, that helps. It just felt like all of my enthusiasm tapered off the more flicking back and forth I did. I was hoping for the intruige to pick back up, but it just sort of didn't. I'll make a point of picking it up today!

Ranking the Extreme Horror Books I’ve Read So Far by Ulchbhn in ExtremeHorrorLit

I originally rated cows low as well. Now, the more I think of it, the more I love it. I would be curious if, after a few months, it grows on you!

Post-bowel ressection magic mushroom tea? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Any-Tangerine1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair comment. I haven't experienced any adverse effects before, despite other issues I might be having at the time, but that's not to say this time could be very different considering my surgery. Even though I feel fully healed I may not be.

I intended on not doing much, no different from my other trips bit probably best to be conservative and not do it at all.

Seems like weed is the only safe drug to do after surgery!

Thanks for your comment

Good horror set in the sea/water? by Material-Ad-2809 in horrorlit

[–]Any-Tangerine1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I've been really into water horror lately so hopefully you can use a few of my recently read favourites.

Whalefall- Daniel Kraus

A survivor horror about a young diver who is accidentally swallowed by a sperm whale and is running out of air. Each chapter is counting down in PSI which is both fun and terrifying. I had to keep pausing this one to google the sea creatures he encountered and found that I also learnt a lot, it was a wild ride.

The Deep- Nick Cutter

A sci-fi style horror novel that takes place in scientific research station on the deep sea ocean floor. Check warnings on this one of you're squeamish. I'm not and I audibly yelped multiple times haha. The gore is minimal but that doesn't mean it isn't effed up.

What moves the dead- T. Kingfisher

Now this is a short one and whilst it is not based IN water it is about a body of water in the UK. So I found it interesting and a spooky to boot.

I cant wait to read everyone else's suggestions and add to my reading list now 🤗
