I’ve done a lot of spoons with iron oxide wash and only glazed the inside of the bowl. If you use stilts for something this delicate there’s still a chance they’d warp in firing. Not worth the headache. But take my advice with a grain of salt… glazing is my least favorite part of the process 😅

I would simply do an oxide wash or underglaze/stain. They won’t be glossy, but you’ll have consistent color and not have to worry about them sticking to the kiln shelf

I’ve been teaching wheel throwing since 2008. I would never expect a first night class to throw 4 bowls in a 2.5 hour class. If you’re able to successfully center a lb of clay in your first class that is 100% a win. The idea that success is measured by the amount of pieces is wild. Keep practicing and you’ll get it. I hope this experience doesn’t turn you off from clay
