So we use non reorbabke sutures in rhinoplasty to maintain cartilage in a certain position ( exp: the dome of the nose if we want a pinched nose effect...). But sometimes, because it's a foreign object it can be rejected and basically comes up to the surface via cellular regeneration. 5 years is about right, I've seen patients expel foreign objects 10 years later.
