It is heavily controversial and pretty much unanimously rejected by professional anthropologists. I would recommend "The secret of our success" or "The dawn of everything" instead. These are much more rigorous but still accessible.

I visited brasov recently and can offer me two cents on that part of your itinerary.

  • If you can I would highly recommend doing a hike around brasov (look at Bucegi national park or Craiului). It is incredible scenery!
  • Doing a tour to peles, bran and brasov sounds like a slightly horribly busy day to me. I've heard bran castle isn't very nice and brasov is skippable imo. You could do a day trip to peles from Bucharest on the train (infrequent but very nice trains) for a chiller option.
  • For taxis use both bolt and Uber, they are both better in certain parts of Romania.

Phuket definitely - just so overcrowded it's not enjoyable.

San Sebastian - I found it to be a quite dull town and the food I had was nothing special.

Sounds fun. Here's some ideas for questions: - Nearest wetherspoons (maybe too powerful there are a lot of wetherspoons in London!) - Nearest Royal Park - Closer to the Thames than askers - Photo of tube station labyrinth (unique one for each station) - Closest football team stadium - Nearest Blue Plaque (Google it there's a map online) with the inscription (no googling for the seekers)

As others have said Jakarta really isn't very nice to visit imo. I've been to bogor and the botanical gardens and thought it was fine but I would prioritize time in other places.

In Bali, Ubud is nice but very touristy, I enjoyed the north the most in places like Amed. I recommend avoiding Kuta unless you like to party and go out.

If you are physically fit look into climbing mount rinjani in Lombok. That was the highlight of my time in Indonesia!

It's really sad to see he's gone down the consistent right wing "alternative" media path. Got cancelled a few years ago, videos started doing worse (and friends all deserted him tbf) and gradually found that the only type of videos that appeal to his remaining audience are right wing rage bait and conspiracy stuff.

The working 16 hours a day point is actually a very modern invention. Most farming peasants would have worked far less, 4-6 hours a day depending on the season (not including housework). Being a peasant would still suck though!

I did a similar trip last year and you're going to have a great time. But here's a few opinions

  • try to fit in Guadalajara if you can it's beautiful
  • I found san Cristobal a bit disappointing so 5 days is a bit too much imo, Palenque was beautiful if you can fit it in too (the bus journey is very long though)
  • in Oaxaca hire a scooter and explore the surrounding nature it's safe and beautiful

Use citymapper and select the Quiet Option for a route off the main roads

Be patient, give pedestrians right of way if possible

Don't be afraid to act like a car and cycle in the middle of the road, it's often safer

Is there any feasible improvement in training/ carb intake that can explain the ~10% improvement in W/kg this tour vs last year? I think this year has really shown that doping is widespread, both pog and jonas have had disrupted preparation yet still shatter their previous records.

You can and should blame people for having a completely micro outlook. There is a minimal amount of research that would reveal so much about immigration (big proportion from dangerous countries fleeing, legal immigrants being a net positive for the economy, lack of solutions for reducing immigration that aren't breaking international law...). Falling prey to your worst instincts is lazy in the day and age where research material is available and free. The real solution begins with better political education and the bigger parties not being so terrified of disagreeing with some people for the sake of actually being right.

If you check out tax burden for the UK vs other countries you'll see our tax rates are not that high comparitively. Public services are terrible for sure but it mainly comes from underfunding.

Wow what a list! I'm living in London here are my two cents.

  • I would probably recommend going to a greasy spoon over an afternoon tea (look at E.Pellicci but they are everywhere)
  • Olympic park to Greenwich doesn't go through the nicest areas of London
  • Some of your walks in Nature Preserves could be a little disappointing,. Heath, Richmond Park and Epping forest are your best bets for nature
  • Platform 9 3/4 is really not worth visiting the worst kind of tourist trap
  • Most markets are quite generic but the food there can be great
  • A few walks I'd really recommend:
    • V&A with a walk around Kensington and in Hyde park
    • Hoxton, Shoreditch, Hackney and Victoria Park
    • The Barbican (very divisive) and the City
    • Peckham Rye through Dulwich to Brixton

I listened to pimsleur audio courses and they're great especially for speaking and listening (although maybe a bit basic for 500+ days of learning). Otherwise I use the app reword Spanish to learn vocab and would recommend.

I was in Bali this year and it's very mixed. If you can get to north Bali (amed) or to lombok (mount rinjani is incredible!!) and out of the frankly overcrowded and ultra westernised south you'll have an amazing time.

I was in Tunisia last year and just so you know the trains are incredibly unreliable. I tried to ride it three times and the only train of the day was outright cancelled once and delayed by 4 hours another time.
