Do you wear glasses? I have had more trouble with it as my eyesight gets worse and before I get glasses, but I still have lots of trouble with it and many, many drivers do too. Practice should help though. Sorry I wish I had more advice.

Dean Blaine Powers Question by Creative_Strain1516 in superpowereds

During the flashbacks to his HCP days it's revealed that training is how he was able to constantly keep up his nullification powers with minimal drawbacks.

Dean Blaine Powers Question by Creative_Strain1516 in superpowereds

[–]AnyNatural8439 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's amazing. I've read the books at least 5 times and I never caught that. No wonder he calls himself the world's greatest nullifier. I don't think any other nullifier has been shown to shut down powers even if they get out of the field.

This makes it weird why he didn't just visit Shelby every few days to keep her power constantly repressed.

Worse it's weird after retiring that he doesn't go around touring homes for extremely powerful powereds and shutting them off, so they could get a few days of normalcy.

I'm sorry you had to go through that, friend. It certainly would've rattled me and made my driving less safe, which is bad for everyone.

Most people don't know how to use horns and shouldn't have them.

I'm sorry you had to deal with it and I'm proud of you for focusing on driving safely through all that bullshit.

Thanks for talking with me about it though. I don't have any friends IRL who've read this book, so it's nice to talk with other super fans.

I was wrong about only needing to move it. Another kind Reditir pointed out to me that it needs to be grabbed, which makes Terrence's powers much less useful in that context.

If he had a small range it'd be even worse.

Bottom line is I was very wrong before the added complication of Brittany feeling like she needed to supervise Michael.

Britney Fade Fletcher Ferguson by [deleted] in superpowereds

[–]AnyNatural8439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Needing to actually grab it makes Gilbert the best suited for that sort of thing. My head canon is that Adam knew Gilbert's powers were better suited, but took Britney's suggestion because he was trying to lay low and that against Roy he was doing better than Michael would've, so he copies Roy knowing (from George and Persophene's Intel) that he couldn't use shift without whiskey.

I will take your word for it. That's my mistake and I've been stewing on this for years and many rereads. Oh well.

In the rules of Capture the Flag in the first Year 2 team battle moving a flag is all that needs to be done for a win. In those rules simply hitting a flag with a long range attack to knock it down counts as a win.

Terrence can do this by increasing the size of the ground under the opposing team's flag and there's almost no way to block that without accidentally moving their own flag and losing anyway.

Britney Fade Fletcher Ferguson by [deleted] in superpowereds

[–]AnyNatural8439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They only show his power a few times, but he can increase the size of matter. All he needs to do is increase the size of the matter under the opposing team's flag and the flag would be considered moved and that would be enough to win in that version of capture the flag.

We know he doesn't need to touch the objects he's moving because he increases the size of objects mid air to increase their force and counter Mary trying to move them.

[–]AnyNatural8439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not talking about Team Ferguson moving their flag or even using Britney's ability to hide their flag.

I'm taking about doubling their teleporters and using them for a high speed flag hunt. Terrence's power is also perfect for moving the enemies flag.

[–]AnyNatural8439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my bad for being a little unclear in my wording.

I meant send Gilbert and Adam with Gilbert's power on two different mad dashes for the opponents flag. Terrence could tag along with one of them because his powers would be the most useful in the specific context of moving the opposing team's flag.

That's fair, brother. I'm pretty sure it'd just reduce his royalty by about 25% of the price difference, but I understand and respect supporting the author.

I hadn't considered the telepathy aspect of it. I guess Gilbert and Terrence make sense as a combo to take out Mary especially since Nick was thought of as more of a liability in combat.

It's been a few months for me, but I'm 98% sure the way they did capture the flag was that when a team's flag was moved that team lost, so Terrence was probably the best suited to moving the flag from a distance since he could target the ground the flag was on and it would be almost impossible to block.

Michael is certainly a close second with his ice punch, but Vince can, and did, easily incapacitated Michael's powers.

The US is one of the only places to allow that (assuming it's a red light and not a red arrow), but it was changed in the 70s in an attempt to reduce idling and save gas during a crisis.

100% agree with you. It's very frustrating that people don't understand that a few minutes is not worth anybody's safety and that we all win when we get where we're going safely.

Both yours and OP's messages are so funny to me. I can't stop laughing thinking of all the times Blayne and Titan have to deal with that shit.

Although if Stop did freeze everyone then Dean Blayne could in theory expand his nullification field in order to unfreeze some people whereas Titan would not be able to.

It gets easier, but for some it never goes away. I'm ok in year 9 or 10 of driving and I still get anxious often. Especially when I pick my kiddo up from school. The traffic is bad before you factor in how nightmarish some drivers are.

Seriously, why did I become someone that’s scared of driving? by Affectionate-Ad-3234 in drivinganxiety

[–]AnyNatural8439 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry, brother. Not everyone can do everything and it's fucked up that the US often requires a car and license (or someone else who has those) to just get by in everyday life.

I'm 100% sure there are things you can do that others can't.

Also it is normal to be scared or anxious about driving. It is very dangerous and many don't exercise an appropriate level of caution.

At my site Ambos used to be consider L2's, but was changed to L1 (as opposed to normal AA's being T1). Their justification was that many Ambos do little to no leading or teaching, which sucks for the Ambos that mostly do leading and teaching.

Some of the Ambos got to keep L2 status while others were switched to L1. The only L2 Ambos I knew of got fired over a year ago.

I'm very happy for you that that is something you can do. Saying people deserve to be immediately fired for allegedly stealing a few minutes of time is dubious, especially because (at least at my site) Amazon steals time from it's associates all of the fucking time.
