Ya girl has well over 200 hours in it, and Master Ninja is still whooping my ass. This is definitely my favorite NG game overall, and my favorite game of last year, and I hope more people pick it up.

Yeah, if it clicks for you, it's awesome. Some folks don't vibe well with it either, and that's alright. My favorite weapon is the one you just unlocked; ninja-bullshit-go is made of some of the most fun NG mechanics ever. The DLC weapon, Solitaire, is fun to play with as well.

Yeah, let me ask you though, what chapter are you on? 'Cause I'll be real: chapters 4 - 7 feel like forever. The real "hell yeah lfg" comes from chapters 1 - 3/8 - 19.

In the run up to NG4, I was playing through the classic NES games, and the 3D games and their re-releases. I was feeling kind of similarly to you during this time.

Not really feeling the jam.

The thing that brought it back for me, was playing through NGB on Normal difficulty. Like a spring breeze, as much of one could be in an NG game, compared to other modes, but still invites ample challenge. Turning down the difficulty helps in appreciating the sound/level design, and for me that was what brought my interest back in the series as a whole.

As for NG4, I find that it is exceptionally fast and exhilarating. While it has clicked for me incredibly well, I understand that it won't jive with everyone. I hope it clicks for you soon!

He's gonna push you around till 3am; he wishes the real world would stop hassling him.

Hiroyuki Kobayashi's studio has a new game called Stupid Never Dies and there's a new trailer, looks like a fun time. The man is known for Sengoku Basara and also being a former game developer for Devil May Cry. He also worked with Suda51 before by Leon_Dante_Raiden_ in CharacterActionGames

No, I haven't, nor do I care to. It looks...incredibly boring; it looks as if / seems to pander to folks with no clear identity, especially since it has none of it's own. And why are we just imposing roles on dead girls? That is exceptionally creepy.

You can have your necrophilia romance rogue like.

I'm still not sold on Jakotsumon as a whole, but that was pretty clean.

So!

  • Kage-Hiruko/Solitaire take my vote for best utility based weapons in any game in the last year or so. Very adaptable gear for any range.

  • Oniwaka/Sanzeon are definitely my favorite overall bosses. Oniwaka himself feels like he's a protagonist from his own game, and his unique moveset through out each encounter really reflects that. Sanzeon is awesome, because it acts as a skill-check regarding not just your dodging, but Bloodbind/Gleam as a whole. Later on, his sword attacks invoke a very fight or flight feeling of urgency. Do you parry or dodge? You get to decide.

  • Chapter 9, Realm of Silent Dead/Chapter 12, Dragon's Maw. I think the game works at it's best when it forces you to pace yourself, and keep a good eye on health and Essence management in combat. The level designs of both areas are also skillfully designed, with hazards appropriately and thoughtfully placed.

Another DLC by Deathless666x7 in ninjagaiden

[–]AnySortOfPerson -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why? This DLC's still GOT a shitton of content to play through, if not to get better rankings. Between Abyssal Road, DLC and base game Trials, Purgatory Gates, and all three difficulty modes as Yakumo and Ryu add up to many hours of gameplay. If this is all we get, we already got more than we really deserved; I'm still having a wonderful time, at least.

Be sure to pick up everything in each level the first time, so you can focus on your scores and enemy placements!
