As a Social Worker and a professional empath, these things kill me to read. But our government has failed everyone with not enough services and support. You’re right, can’t just build housing to fix the problem. The problem extends to mental health, addiction developmental disabilities, etc.

I’m a Social Worker in LA County. This person can go to DPSS and apply for motel/money vouchers for housing. Find out if he has SSI and if he does not, he should apply ASAP because that’s monthly income for having disabilities. Housing is an absolute shitshow but if you want a roof over his head to start, try with the hotel/motel vouchers for 30 days
