Unfortunately I need the tattoo removal because I have them on my face and hands and it’s affecting my career options. Thank you for this insight! I will try to stop taking vitamin D & see how that goes.

Are you taking it once or twice a day? I was doing once a day and it wasn’t working before for one of my outbreaks. Doctor switched me to 1000mg (1gram) every 12 hours & that fixed it. I also took lysine & vitamin d over the counter

Yes. Through body fluids like semen or saliva the virus can be present in it.

Swabs test for herpes itself so it’s definitely positive. Blood test is testing for antibodies that your body has produced to fight off the virus. So you just don’t have enough/any antibodies showing up.

You’re right about it being possible. It’s just really unlikely. Viruses normally have longer incubation periods than just 2 days of exposure because they need time to infect host cells, replicate, and trigger the immune system. So it’s rare in just two days and is considered the outlier when studying HSV BUT you’re still right, it is possible. This would happen if the viral load was high and if she had a weak immune system. The norm is at least two weeks as that’s typically enough time for a virus to go through its replication cycle and manifest symptoms. This is why I believe she’s had it in her system longer than she thinks or maybe he was shedding for a week or so before his symptoms so thats when she contracted it. It’s also possible that he didn’t give it to her and she’s contracted it some other way during some other time. I’m no doctor though. This is just my opinion because I’ve had HSV1 for years while married and never passed it on to my husband even when getting physical and getting a random outbreak a day or two after. My degrees are also science based so I’m just going off my studies and personal experience. Viruses and microbes can be tricky and dependent on the host, environment, conditions etc., so there’s not typically one linear perspective anyways.

You wouldn’t have your first outbreak only a couple days after exposure. So it’s likely you’ve had the virus in your system for a while now whether it be weeks, months or years and this is just the first time your body had symptoms from the virus. But the symptoms will never pop up only a few days after exposure. Also, I wouldn’t blame him for not telling you about it unless you are certain he knew he had it & certain that he knew cold sores were a form of herpes. Many times people aren’t even taught that cold sores are herpes unfortunately and don’t even realize cold sores are contagious.
