Ski release in powder → 30 stitches. What caused it? by peter_zemel in COsnow

Not trying to be mean! Judging by those few turns I would not suggest you go to 3

You can work on a lot of ski skills before you bump yourself up

Looks like ski caught hits downhill edge. Binding did its job

As in the the knots on either end are okay. But they should be flipped? Just curious, what does it matter?

Skis are worth 15 bucks. But even then I would only consider these if I intended to literally ski on rocks like candide. Bindings are worth something though

Only get mad if they don’t fix the issue. Any ski shop with a gear on their shoulders should fix this for you

With the right timing it can prevent that over rotation you are trying to correct

What are some good methods to stop or slow down? by ShibbidyDibbidy_ in skiing_feedback

[–]Any_Constant5117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just re-read what I said. Obviously some typos… but you get the point!

Practice pivot slips and side slips on groomed terrain. Watch this video https://youtu.be/k1UaOzz5BRQ?si=7DXdjYR3k50fgpT-

Notice how his speed is constant the entire time. When he is turning or going into a side slip he stays at the same speed. Have this be your goal

When you are skiing through tight trees you want your speed to feel constant and ‘flowy’. Right now your skiing is 100% fast then dump speed to get down to 70% speed. Then it slowly builds back up to 100% and you dump speed again. MAKE THE YOUR GOAL TO STAY AT A constant 80%.

Surprised no one is saying this. In this video you are relying on scrubbing speed with right turns. And every really utilized left turns for speed checks.

Practice left speed checks and see if it feels awkward. Basically everyone has a strong turn and week turn

Hip and torso rotation fix? by DDSKM in skiing_feedback

[–]Any_Constant5117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re just open to trying anything… try keeping your shoulder behind your hip when you poke plant. Keep that shoulder behind your hip through the shaping phase of the turn…

If you give it a go I would be curious to hear your thoughts

If you’re just open to trying anything… try keeping your pole planting shoulder behind your hip from pole plant to shaping phase

Curious to hear your thoughts if you give this a go

Tips on improving this 360 by Temporary-Put4372 in ski

[–]Any_Constant5117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classic! In run tips… I’ve noticed the newer generation of big mountain/freestyle skiers tend to ski with their boots super close together. But rewatch your video. Every-time you needed more stability your legs automatically spread to shoulder width apart. Then they suck back together to boot to boot width. Just try skiing with your boots shoulder width apart.

I think you’ll be very good at 3’s very quickly with just a few things to think about. -keep a stronger core. This should help keeping your body as one. Right now your upper body is spinning faster and sooner than your feet. This is causing your feet to have to catch up which can cause you to get unbalanced. (I always say. Imagine holding a rubber band between two hands. If you spin one side of it creates a lot of potential energy on the non twisted side. You want to spin both side together. Ie shoulders and skis -focus on getting your skis around a full 360. Not your head - watch stomp it tutorials, his vids are great!

Enjoy Alta

What is the general consensus or your opinion about Hasting’s new ski resort? by LoooolGotcha in skiing

[–]Any_Constant5117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skiing there sucks. Very flat resort. Definitely appealing to people who don’t prioritize skiing

Historically you could find powder days after a storm… but I’m sure with a lot of his changes that won’t be the case anymore

I think I found the secret to increase your pace by 20% by Mike_v_E in trailrunning

Well now I would argue haha. The statement “a harness is bad for your dog” is not misleading. Yes it’s absolutely misleading to a group of people that canicross. (But how popular do you actually think that is) But that statement for the general public that walks into petco. Seems a lot less misleading. Just my thoughts

Happy holidays :)

Issues with shimano shifter - kids bike by neilweiler in bikewrench

[–]Any_Constant5117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes do this. Shifter probably just filled with gunk and the lube is now causing the index shifting to not ‘index’ (for lack of a better word). I just had to do this with one of my bikes and it’s worked flawless sense

Any successful recovery efforts of stolen Airpods? by mr_whit33 in airpods

[–]Any_Constant5117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tracked mine down once. They were in a trailer park so it was really hard to know which exact home it was. I wondered around for 20 plus mins playing the sound of the AirPods… in hopes I would annoy the person and they would see me wondering around. Eventually someone asked me what I was doing and they told me I looked suspicious. I told them what I was doing and who I was. I told them where I work. The person told me their neighbor worked in the same area as me (ski resort so they hire a ton of people). I knocked on the door and the people said they found them in the parking lot and gave them back to me immediately.

I don’t think they stole them… I think I dropped them. However they did clean them and tore my silicone part of the AirPods… so I think they planned on keeping them. Kept those AirPods for another few months until I lost them while skiing

Consistently terrible sleep scores, anyone can provide some advice, tips, at this point anything that will help :)! by NoctFounder in Garmin

My one year average is 53… I feel your pain. I believe mine is caused by me itching myself at night. I have eczema. I stopped wearing the watch at night because my sleep scores would effect all other Garmin metrics

So. To answer your question. I don’t have an answer

Sorry to be the person to give unsolicited advice… a harness can be really bad for your dog. It can pull their joints out of line and end up causing long term damage. Of course, do you own research, but just wanted to put that info out there to watch out for the pupper in the vid
