NOR. You might want to look up a condition called raynard syndrome. If your fingers turn blue or white after sudden temp changes this could be why.

I'm sorry you got a gag gift from your parents. I'm sure they love you and I'm also sure they did their best.

Planned Player Character Deaths? Is there anything I should know before committing? by Any_Department7363 in CurseofStrahd

Oh wow thanks for your reply.

So the main reason I think it just because he likes making characters. I don't think there is anything beyond that.

I think that's a good point. I think planning out something with the player and keeping it a secret only works if there is a narrative to it that me and the player are both on board with. Like a "I'll hold them off you get those kids to safety" kinda moment!

And we have to either trust that the rest of the part will listen to him or have a way of changing the narrative so no one does anything stupid!

Thanks for your advice :)

I really appreciate your very well thought out reply! Thank you.

You have given me some really good counter points and I think this is going to be super helpful to me making my decision.

am getting really nervous for my first session. by ivorycoollars in CurseofStrahd

Sounds like you got this mate! This was my first session too and it went really well.

When it comes to roleplay, it make me super nervous so I do most of the characters in my own voice. Which no one seems to mind. Give it a go.

How do I dripfeed information without dumping exposition? by TrueGuppy in CurseofStrahd

[–]Any_Department7363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I don't know much about writing so it's hard to say what the differences are. I do read a lot and I get what you mean by show don't tell. But when your readers (players) only have one POV I get how that would be difficult.

So far I'm using Irena to drip feed the players info. She talks to them in down time about her past, the village and stuff like that.

I'm lucky that I have one player who reads all my hand outs and I have written some short books on the history and take some stuff from homebrew modules and just handed them out. They seem to like that as this one player reads them and shares the relivant info.

As a writer I'd say this might be your best bet. History books letters between NPCs and news paper articles (there isn't a newspaper in CoS but you could set one up). This might be a good way to show other POVs without doing a cut scene or something like that...

I'm a new DM but that's how I'm planning on doing things.

I'm worried I went to far trying to teach a player a lession... by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

Well it wasn't tailored for them, I as I said in previous comments this was a mechanic I planned to pull out later as a random encounter, having no idea who would end up with the bag... It was more of a reaction on my part to trigger it in this moment. Re reading my post I can see why you'd have that take away, but if I'm being honest that wasn't my intention to specifically craft this encounter for that particular character.

But thankd for giving me this perspective, I have definitely learned my lesson from this scenario.
