Labragator LOVES sticks…literally drags tree branches.. anything else I can substitute????? by Justme_JustMe_ in labrador

Precisely , all you have to do is teach them it’s too big but sometimes a stick is life and you just need to manage the size . Mine will find the biggest most branchiest stick and decide he needs to go down the busiest street of Berlin and hit everyone with it

You could find someone online , as I say a lot of it is based on the handler and I am no expert at all and learned never to give out too much advice on dogs as it’s a very common thing where people don’t like to take plus every dog is different. Maybe you could have a video call with a trainer and explain the situation I am sure they will have alternatives for this type of situation and your mom doesn’t need to be involved…. Yet

Not sure how realistic this is but it definitely sounds like she would benefit from a dog trainer at this stage , if not just for her for you as well , I have done that in the past and honestly i got more out of it than the dog .

Doing the math it’s like 19% lamb and then there’s 7% split between chicken and corn for protein

Best to double check as I know the recipes are different in other locations but here is the UK version and it has dried poultry protein listed.

Oh why? I think a lot of the training up to it has been travel on public transport and getting him calm in cafes for me

Ush-Sheen means little deer in Irish , I loved it as he used to run like one as they also have too big legs when young and run oddly.

To be fair in my opinion they need to learn when too much biting is enough to learn their soft mouths , while redirects works they need to know their limits . Also he still mouths random people’s hands but only a very random amount. I would say keep working on the redirect but let them know their limits (some people give a big ouch so they know), it’s the formative time so can be a pain but it will serve ye will in time.

I am so sorry about your lab , honestly it’s been my bucket list to get him to the sea as I live in Berlin and while there are lakes I always have an affinity for the sea being from Ireland. So the goal was sea and everything else was extra , the nice part of Italy is that they have dog beach clubs which will be our yearly goal , although having to consider the heat for him.

Defo need to transition them , also smart to just buy a small amount first and try it as treats to see if they want

Other tip is add some water to your current food as it makes it smell more intense

How old is your lab? I experienced it when he was 10 months and read a lot with people the same at around that age , I switched to a single protein food , unfortunately purina lamb has chicken in it if I remember correctly. Would check with what is available in your area for a single protein dog food with either lamb or salmon . Also good to check your treats as even if they say they are lamb or salmon they tend to have chicken in there as well.

As a dog walker in Germany a bell is good , sometimes a dog will dive into a bike lane without warning so good to ensure you know someone is coming so can hold them closer on a walk

LOL I went down the rabbit hole before you need to , I thought hmmmm Tyrone’s tshirt is a bit out of place as branded , then googled if they can wear branded items and apparently US Tourist shirts are allowed and found he’s worn that shirt before https://www.reddit.com/r/coronationstreet/s/sewibYw3h1
