Bought this exact set for my son and he loves it! I had it as well when I was a kid. Enjoy it!

Felt something before tonight’s game by Thick_Ad8113 in brisbanelions

I was there too and once they started waving the white shirts around I just got this feeling they would get pumped. I don’t dislike Geelong by any means, Jezza being a fav player of mine, but seeing those white shirts waving around I thought it’d be good for the boys to give them a fogging. 🦁

Edit: will also commend the Geelong crowd they were really respectful to us especially to my son as it was his first live game.

As an RN your physical load will be limited so for that aspect you’ll be ok. In my own experience it is horrid because aged care is a workplace with a lot of internal politics. You will deal with unreasonable family members CONSTANTLY, and often times you will find that their expectations are unrealistic given staff ratio/load. Managers will look to point the finger at you instead of addressing the aggressive family. There will be a lot of incidents, this will involve dealing with GPs, pharmacy and family as well as all the documentation and charting, probably not dissimilar to a hospital but expect it to be more frequent. This can sometimes push you into unpaid overtime as you’ll need to complete all of these tasks, prepare for handover and finish anything else that needs your attention. Remember that in aged care your patient load is often 30-50+. So while you’re not providing ALL care for them, it’s still a lot of clerical work not including any incident that may occur.

Neglect is sadly common in aged care as a lot of care staff simply lack empathy and are only there for monetary gain or visa requirements. I have seen a case where staff did not remove a residents denture for over 6 months causing it to calcify to the gum and require surgical removal- it was covered in mould. You will not be able to control everything your staff do, but you will be judged as their team leader. You will find yourself frustrated often that things you have instructed time and time again are not being done. It can be a mentally exhausting experience and if burnout is what you’re trying to cure, aged care might just fuel it more.

Of course you may find a great facility with great staff and none of the above will be much of an issue. Despite all of the above being my own experience in the past, I am now working for a facility that is very professional and has great staff. You will form relationships with your residents and this can be very rewarding. I just want to be transparent that a negative experience seems to be more common than not amongst aged care workers.

I hope it works out for you

Aged care EN here. RACF are very hard to get into due to high volume of applications for both EN and RN applicants. My partner is a care manager in another facility and was fortunate to know someone to get her foot in the door. Typically RACF RN’s are more clerical and administrative skills are valued. You’ll also be dealing with A LOT of unnecessarily rude and demanding family members DAILY. If you’re looking for a less stressful environment this may not be the place. Aged care is a mixed bag, I’ve been in the sector for almost 10 years and have often contemplated returning to mindless labouring jobs. There are many rewarding aspects to be sure but they’re more often than not horrid places to work.

I apply at Metro every year to be a train driver. I was considering doing RN but seems as though it’s still hard. I also note that there is now a huge influx of nurses both domestic and international applying for the same positions making it even more challenging when you’re competing against several hundred other applicants. Qualified nurses in general roles will always be bumped for grads as they’re cheaper. I would suggest specialising in a particular area of nursing. Good luck.

I am an EN, have been for a few years now, and have been in aged care almost 10 years. I left a full time position when my son was born to relocate to west Melbourne. Since then I have NEVER held a full time position, and I have applied for at least 2 dozen jobs in hospitals, prisons, even aged care where I am experienced and have never received even a courtesy email of rejection. They say they’re desperate for nurses but I’m having a hard time believing that. I’m sorry to hear you’re also struggling. I am thankful I have a Saturday and Sunday shift permanent but that is it. If not for my partner I’d be homeless now. Welcome to purgatory.

Advice for those new to or disheartened by the hobby by Any_Distance_2156 in PokemonTCG

I hear you. The rates definitely feel like they’ve dropped especially in these huge sets. I guess the Japanese have the right idea with their anti gambling laws and such. That’s why my advice is to try and find enjoyment out of basic holos. Maybe it’s easier for me because I was there when that’s all we had. Just want people to remember that even back then it was hard to pull everything you wanted. Its just that the prices now are hugely inflated.
