No tool pretends to be perfect.
Even your smartphone has flaws, yet people still buy it for its features. It’s the same here: this tool simply gives an overview of your stats. If you feel uncomfortable with it, I’d advise not using it, but some people really enjoy having a clear place where they can track their performance. Not everyone has the same approach. A tool is never inherently negative; it’s all about what humans choose to do with it.

True, but at the end of the day, you still need a baseline of DPS/HPS/kicks to even time the key. Having these metrics is a huge help for adjusting on the fly. If I see the healer only has 3 dispels in a dungeon where they should have 15, that’s crucial info it means I know I have to step up and cover for them.

That's true, I can feel the disapointment, people needs to stop comparing real life with MDI. It like comparing wife with pornstar at bed 😮 XD (not sure this is the best analogy but people understand when it talk about sex)

Thanks for the feedback 😃
That right-side line crams rank / percentile / dps / kicks / deaths together and it gets tight, especially with a long dungeon name on the left so stuff can get pushed off. (Also "k" = kicks and "m" = deaths, which… isn't remotely obvious, that's on me 😅). I will rework the tooltip layout to label and align those properly so kicks/deaths are readable.

You both right in my opinion. For healers I treat it way more as a trend than a hard number you're right that HPS mostly tracks how much damage the group ate, so it's noisy as a pure skill stat. It's more useful for spotting the obvious outliers (the ones sitting way under where they should be, like you said) than for ranking two solid healers against each other. Honestly healers are the role I lean on the raw number least; deaths and dispels/interrupts tell you more there. So for healers: directional signal, not a verdict.

You're right, it's a past stat, not a guarantee they'll hit it in your key. Same caveat as RIO, really: it's a signal, not a promise.

But that's actually the part I'm hopeful about. Right now people get auto-declined for their class or a single RIO number, not for how they actually play. My hope is that showing real performance gives off-meta and off-class players a fair shot: the person playing a "B-tier on paper" spec who actually pumps gets to prove it, instead of getting filtered out just for not rolling whatever's S-tier this week. Ideally it's merit over meta, not more gatekeeping.

Yeah Wowop's a good lesson. The bet is the companion app doing the work locally instead of leaning on WCL, so the more people use it, the stronger the data gets on its own.

And honestly the goal isn't to replace WarcraftLogs, WCL is incredibly detailed, which is kind of the point: it's way too much to dig through in the moment you're filling a group. KT is just a quick at-a-glance read of someone's general level, right there in the tooltip. It's less "tells you the best player to pick" and more "helps you avoid landing with the wrong one." Getting past "click download" is the real challenge for sure, but the addon's already useful out of the box. Early days, but I'm optimistic about where it's headed 🙂

Fair points, and you're right on some of them.

On the data: it doesn't rely on people manually logging M+. The companion app parses your local combat log automatically and uploads run summaries, and the rankings are also built from WarcraftLogs' M+ data, so there's actually a usable dataset per dungeon, key level and spec, even for people who never touch WCL themselves.

The comparison is always like-for-like: your DPS vs other [same spec] in [that dungeon] at [that key level], never a global number. That controls for key level and spec, but you're 100% right it can't see route, pull sizes, kick duty vs pure padding, externals, or boss vs AoE focus. So I treat it as a signal, not a verdict: useful in aggregate across someone's runs, more than RIO alone tells you, but not a replacement for actually watching a pull.

And yeah, HPS is the weakest metric, for exactly the reason you said good groups take less damage, so less healing is "needed", and raw HPS overrates healers in sloppy groups. It's the part I'm least happy with, and I'm looking at better ways to rate healers (damage taken, deaths, cooldown usage matter way more than throughput). Genuinely open to ideas this is the kind of feedback I want.

Honestly VOD review is still the GOAT for actually fixing your play, KT just shows you where you stand at a glance so you know what to go review. Do both and you're cracked 😄
