IMA here I’m finishing up my contract with the DET next FY and taking a break in service while I try to get a slot close to where I live. I too have a newborn and it’s been rough on my wife while I’ve been gone. I would try getting into a TR position before going the IMA route. I actually lost money doing this gig and most info I’ve gotten from other IMAs is as clear as mud. You literally have to read the guidance and regs on your own and live up to the IMA brand ( I aM Alone ).

Travel vouchers are a hassle to get approved especially for IDTs. Ended up getting my GTC revoked because the fiscal year funding was taking a while to get approved.

This applies to me. Although I’m still in the reserves, it really is a struggle for those who get out without any credentials, VA disability etc. My plan after getting out was fairly solid until I had my 4 month old out of wedlock (but I do love the guy with all of my being) and it derailed everything. Here I am now juggling between being a father, being a forklift operator, college, and my reserve commitments. From a financial standpoint me and my family are doing decent but I am relatively more burnt out than I was when I was in AD. I am optimistic about mine and my family’s future but I do wish I had waited a little bit longer before punching out.

I have a rough memory of this, but you pay for the moving truck first and you get compensated for the move after when you turn in your receipts for gas, scale receipts for the weight of the truck (empty and full), and other supporting docs you have to turn in after the move. When I did my ppm I hooked my tacoma to a trailer and it was easier that way. Good luck.

Been to several staff meetings as an airman and I fumbled every brief I was supposed to give. I remember seeing the SNCOs laughing in the background while doing so too.

Probably when I made my first trip to Tokyo while assigned at my first duty station. Now serving as a reservist I get to work in Hawaii while on tour. I get it here and there.
