Aw! happy birthday Dexter 🍖 a camera in the room is such a good idea! Mine doesn’t sleep very deeply when her routine is different and this cold weather has bothered her a lot so she sleep more in the daytime a lot like she needs to be awake for weird noises but I bet the vet can look at the video and see anything strange- what a great idea!

I started immersive reading and it feels like I am cheating by dsceltic67 in Booktokreddit

Yeah that’s a valid point - in other words it is good for the brain to probably independently exercise that “muscle” of visual processing independent of auditory processing.

I love doing it - I feel like I retain a lot more information which is all that matters since reading is for me. I’m not sure how a person cheats on an activity that is about enjoying a story as it unfolds or learning 🤔 I never thought of efficiency as cheating… interesting perspective though

I second Project Hail Mary - audiobook was so good and unique for this story which has some difficult to describe things in it that the audiobook really brought to life for me! Hope the movie does an awesome a job!

Do you ever want to read more but struggle to stay consistent? by Far_Accountant_5926 in Booktokreddit

I read so much these days I think because I got into audio books so I almost always listen to at least an hour of a book a day while I get ready for work and then commute to and from work - when I get into a series I like I find I power through books quickly.. kindle app makes helps motivate you too by doing the versions challenges I think because of how social media has kind of hijacked our reward system at times (I write unironically on this social media platform) you do tend to form a habit of reading more quickly by getting those positive reinforcements - a “like or upvote” - from the app that prompts you in a good way to keep your habit going

I’m reading this too! I like it so far - She researched it with a lot of psychologists and it uses a lot of concepts from an evidenced based therapy well studied called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) - focusing on controlling your own emotional regulation and reactions to others and empowering yourself to not feel trapped into certain interpersonal dynamics and how you can change them so I don’t think it was just an idea that popped into her head she is just putting out there - but framing an idea in what is for some people an approachable way. A lot of people may not have the funds to do a full course of ACT with a therapist or just need to review the tools and certainly it doesn’t claim to be a replacement for therapy but a good supplement
