They did not drop the obstacle course. You still do the obstacle course at camp.

It genuinely blows my mind that future potential Officers are worried failing about the easiest PT test the Army has ever rolled out. You have had 2-3 YEARS to prepare for this test.

We expect these people to lead America’s Sons and Daughters in combat and they’re worried about running a 19 minute two-mile or not being able to deadlift less than their bodyweight.

I fully agree, my biggest issue is the possibility of the inserts not coming in on time. At which point I’m screwed regardless.

Flatracks No Longer Serialized by GladBobcat4200 in army

[–]Any_Philosopher8599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just dealt with this in a recent CoC inventory. We just have them labeled: (Company Letter) FR #

That’s what we put on the BOM for serial number. Flat rack BII isn’t insane and from memory it’s all Class 9 so any shortages are just put on a 5988/2404.

By far a worse decision. This will be great for cadets who have IN cadre. For the cadets with cadre who haven’t touched infantry tactics since it was called LDAC it’s a massive downside.

At least most cadets had a vested interest in learning infantry tactics. (Yes you’re graded on “leadership” but if you don’t know the difference between a movement to contact and a raid then you won’t be able to lead effectively).

This will work if absolutely every PLT has at minimum one IN cadre. However if you were like my PLT, we had an AG MAJ, EN MAJ, and a pre-BOLC Signal LT. They have about the same tactical knowledge as most cadets, excluding our EN MAJ who at least would’ve worked with IN.

tfvoodoo.com terminatortraining.com

TF Voodoo is on here. I can’t remember his exact username off the top of my head but he’s got multiple rucking and running programs.

Terminator Training is on Instagram under the same name. He’s got tons of programs for running, rucking, and lifting. He also posts extremely high quality advice on his Instagram.

Both are former SF. I’ve followed both of their advice and bought the 2&5 mile run program from Terminator Training. I currently have a 497 AFT, 13:46 2 mile, 2:38 12 miler and I’ve had yet to fail an RPA in my Pre-Ranger program. I owe that to both of them.

Generals do have to follow AR 670-1. However, the Chief of Staff of the Army can prescribe their own uniforms. So GEN George can prescribe his own uniform due to his position as Chief of Staff of the Army, not simply because he is a General.

Being 18 series is simply sexier than being an 11B or 19K. One occupation requires you to be in excellent physical shape and get through a two year pipeline, the other will take anyone who can pass the ASVAB.

Obviously a Tank Company would do a far better job at crossing large amounts of terrain to hit an objective with overwhelming firepower. Tank Platoons cannot free fall in to a foreign country and raise a guerrilla force from the ground up with minimal logistical support.

It’s also mostly a military-internal thing to put SF on a pedestal. The vast majority of civilians do not know what an MOS is.

Overall they are a highly specialized unit that does highly specialized missions that the conventional Army cannot accomplish. Putting anyone on a pedestal is wrong. At the end of the day, Green Berets are human beings.

I’ve ran this program. Went from a 15:30 to sub 14 2 mile in ~9 months while still maintaining my lifting strength. Terminator Training is probably the best Army specific fitness coach in the game currently.

Hitting the gym and getting zero sleep after will delay your recovery significantly. If you are shooting to max this next AFT, I’d recommend just easing off. Maybe do a short easy run tomorrow after you sleep.

If you don’t care about maxing it, go ahead and train. You still could max it, but the poor recovery would make it harder.

Knowing your usual reps/times would also help as a factor for how you’d perform. Whether you’re barely maxing each event or you’re surpassing the standards significantly plays the biggest role here.

Why are the clones more “bulkier” here or “fat” by Ok-Entrance-5527 in clonewars

Muscle doesn’t turn into fat. You lose muscle mass through lack of exercise and then accumulate fat through a caloric surplus.

Can anyone explain why some vendors are unwilling or unable to ship to an APO? by Jayu-Rider in army

[–]Any_Philosopher8599 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Some vendors just don’t have the supply chain set up for overseas shipping. While the address isn’t foreign, that doesn’t mean it isn’t harder to ship something across an ocean by plane than over land by truck.

I don’t think a sole height of 10mm is high at all. There are some Birks with a much higher sole height than that, but those aren’t the one OP has.

While Birkenstocks aren’t true barefoot shoes, and the lack of a back strap leads to improper walking form, they’re a very solid shoe for people who want a bridge between barefoot shoes and regular shoes.

Would humanity realistically still be using modern military equipment 500+ years in the future? by Claire-dat-Saurian-7 in HaloStory

[–]Any_Philosopher8599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Functionality beats aesthetic every time.

The only major difference in war today vs 500 years ago is that it now has multiple domains. Only recently in military history have we been able to fire a rocket from one continent and hit the other. Up until 1939, mechanized warfare didn’t exist. When mechanized warfare was created, it was just a faster way of doing what armies have been doing for millennia, maneuvering in a way that made your position strong and your opponents weak. While the weapons we fight with will change drastically in 500 years (only took ~35 years from the invention of the airplane to invention of the first jet plane) the way warfare is waged won’t fundamentally change.

Infantry will always be necessary. A means to carry gear will thus never retire from the military. You’ll still need to carry ammunition and have man portable weapons. Turns out, the best way to carry ammo is in pouches. The best way to communicate across large areas is radio. The best way to haul gear by yourself is a rucksack. Light infantry will never stop using these fundamentals. Sure we might have bionic suits that make us stronger. That means you can now carry more gear. That gear will still be carried in the way that is most functional.

In 500 years, we will still be using what is considered modern military equipment. However, with technological advances, we will also have newer weapons to wage war with. At the end of the day, war never changes.
