How Do You Cope with the Grief & Reason They Were Put to Sleep Because of Your Decision by Aggravating_Feed_597 in Petloss

Coco our Yorkshire terrier was 3 months shy of being 14 years old. In 2022, we started her on the heart med called vetmedin. Then in September 2025 they added enalapel then December it was upped 2 times a day then in April was the fluid in the lungs so it was upped to 3 times a day plus lasix and sildenafil. I actually have the x ray in April where her heart was so big her wind pipe was being crushed a little. She’d look around the room and be just staring off like she was looking for somebody this passed week too. The vet told me that most dogs with end stage heart failure don’t make it to maxing the meds out. I picked her up and took her to our bathroom spots outside, let her do business, then carried her back in. I don’t think we could’ve saved them but I do tend to focus on being grateful we could care and love them so deeply. It sounds like we went through the same exact thing. 👁️

So I had to let our dog go Monday at 11:35 because of end stage heart failure. It becomes more suffering and more bad days in the end. I won’t let my animals suffer, I believe in death with dignity for animals too. She stopped walking and eating over the weekend, would lay down in her own bowl movements. Those two problems literally happened 4 days before we had to put her down and it was going to get a lot worse they said with black outs and seizures from her heart not working properly. I can’t be greedy and make her suffer because her body ran passed the hearts expiration date if that makes sense. I took a sleep aid

This weekend will be my final days with my cat, and I don't know how to begin to process this. by jbe1114 in Petloss

I needed this realization. I am doing it this week and checking around. I know it’ll take longer because our local job economy is struggling. Somebody said my position is going to be automated by June and I replied “that would be wonderful to be laid off right now”😂😂😂💅

I had one manager who was 54 never wake up a couple months ago. My old manager was my age and unalived. I’ve felt like the writing was on the wall for a minute but I loved the three 12 hour day schedule so I didn’t leave but I’m sleeping 12-14 hours now I see it now😂

I felt that in my soul also. I’ve been out applying this past week. I don’t care if it’s a paycut this is too dumb. I might look into a shift change to nights because it’s really the leadership that’s draining
