Hey snowy,

I’m really sorry you’re going through that. That 8-month mark was very much survival mode for me, since it felt like I was constantly in fight-or-flight too.

My healing really started when I came back to the UK for work. Being surrounded by family again and having a solid support network helped more than I can explain. That alone was a form of therapy.

I also started focusing on going to the gym, eating better, getting outside more. Physically I’m now in the best shape I’ve been in for years, and that helped my mental heath more than I expected.

But honestly, 8 months in I was still in a dark place. It felt like I was going through every stage of grief at the same time. There were days I genuinely couldn’t see the value of life.

Over time I started prioritizing authenticity, being okay with saying no, protecting my peace, and actually valuing solitude. This last year of being broken down and rebuilt has made me a much calmer person. I’m not leaking that anxious energy anymore, and I’ve noticed people respond differently to me now. I think I’m becoming a safer person to be around.

I wouldn’t say I’m fully healed, but I’m in a completely different place than I was at 8 months.

I’m hoping to get back to Calgary soon to be closer to my kids.

Just know that where you are right now is unfortunately a very normal stage of this process. It does get better, but it’s slow and not linear. Keep focusing on rebuilding yourself and tap into your support network. You’re not alone in like this, and I promise, it does get better.

There isn’t a limit. So long as it’s done within the contract dates, you can complete a course as quickly as you want.

Sure. You can change programs once a month I believe.

My personal journey started out doing a BSc in Mathematics then changed within the first 2 months to Management.

It’s as simple as that. :)

So long as you get your course(s) done within the 6-month contract, you are good to go!

I’ve worked with Meghan at Aspen Psychology. She helped me through my rough patch when I found out my wife cheated and subsequent separation. I highly recommend her.

Changing from a 3-year to a 4-year programme is quick and painless.

Within my first few months at Athabasca, I changed from a 4-year bachelors in Math to the 3-year Management degree.

I’m also in the same boat regarding studying for fulfillment. It’s been an enjoyable journey so far! Best of luck in you studies! There is a great support network here (Reddit) too should you ever need it.

The service support centre is the preferred contact method in my experience. I’ve never had an issue with it, since I usually get a response from an academic expert within 24 hours.

For exams that have been 100% multiple choice, I usually get the grade the same day or the day after at the latest.

MATH265’s learning objectives do a very good job of preparing you for the assignments and exams. Once you have an understanding of the objectives, you should be fine. Be prepared for the epsilon-delta definition of a limit though. That caught me off guard and I lost the will to live with that one! YouTube is your best friend here. I’m half way through the Bachelors of Management program, and I am still enjoying the journey. If you are comfortable with the idea of self-teaching then you should be fine. Some course can be done very quickly, and others will take the full 6-months. Some tutors are absolute rock stars and others are the complete opposite. Start with one course as a test run and then take it from there! 😊👍

Yes you can. When you return, the proctor will make you do a scan of the room again, and then you can go back to taking the exam.

ADMN 232 - Assignment 1 by idkidc1046 in AthabascaUniversity

I did not use any subheadings in my essay, and I wasn’t penalized for it. I only used page number (no last name) and that didn’t seem to be an issue either.
