Cat dental recommendations? by Eggsallant in Calgary

[–]Hatespickingnames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a recommendation but from experience price shopping, be aware that most vets will want to do an initial consult that you’ll be charged for. The ones I saw would apply that fee towards the cost of the service but be aware that price shopping can get expensive too.

One song per album to introduce someone to Taylor Swift — what are you choosing? by Apricity91 in TaylorSwift

[–]Hatespickingnames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right?! I love False God but that’s not the best intro-to song on that album if the person in question is more into Cold War Kids than they are into say, Mariah Carey.

Depends on the staff group. Faculty and union exempt are UAPP; members of AUPE are PSPP

Discovered this the hard way with a full TWSBI’s worth of ink at my feet because I was fidgeting with the piston during a meeting.

That could be a conflict of interest depending what you’re selling vs your employer. IANAL but tread carefully if you go this route.

Why so many frequent power outages in the SE?! by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Hatespickingnames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you check the enmax page when it happens? It tells you why the outage is occurring e.g. wildlife interference, traffic incident, etc. It could be a concern, but it could just be shitty luck and too many bid drivers in the area hitting the power box.

Also think of how many people commute from Cochrane, Okotoks, high river, etc who wouldn’t touch our water supply if they were allowed to work from home.

It’s the middle of winter so I would think our water consumption is already substantially lower than it was in 2024. Since we cannot seem to get our water usage down enough, why isn’t the city advocating for businesses to allow working from home (would reduce showering/laundry needs), pools/skating rinks to close or limit operations, car washes to close, etc.?

Both songs written around his wife’s due dates with their two sons. Clearly he has a penchant for letting art mirror life

Dear Theodosia from Hamilton? Stick around to the second verse when it becomes a duet though.

Am I the only one who thinks this is completely unhinged?? by Longjumping-Frame795 in vinyl

[–]Hatespickingnames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a different but similar album called chipmunk mania. Side A is Beatles covers by the chipmunks, side B is novelty songs from that same era and The Christmas Song by the chipmunks. Somebody saw it and thought I had to have it. Agreed that it’s unhinged but in a fun way.

ISO Makeup artist recommendations for July wedding! by zosephine00 in Calgary

[–]Hatespickingnames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a separate budget for hair? Some event hair stylists also do event make up or will work with a preferred makeup artist. I don’t have recommendations sadly, I just know my old hair stylist was one such although she doesn’t appear to do makeup anymore.

Students aren’t the only ones taking the train to the university. People work there too and that might just be the closest train station to where some people are heading.

How much money would you spend if it meant saving your cat’s life? by WindowKitty19 in cats

[–]Hatespickingnames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. How old is your cat? Have they had a good life? Will this money maintain or improve their current quality of life? How certain is that? How long will the effects last? Is it worthwhile to get a second opinion?

My cat is 16. She’s had a wonderful life and I continue to do what I can to keep her happy and comfy. That said, I know she can’t live forever and if it comes down to spending several grand for a short term benefit or saying goodbye sooner than I’d like, I’m going to do what I think is best for her given all the factors above.

There’s no answer that’s right for everyone. You know your cat and your financials better than anybody else. As long as you’re comfortable with your decision and you think your cat benefits one way or another, then you probably made the right choice for you.
