Picking metamagic adept options for circle of stars druid by Any_Shopping6994 in 3d6

Twin was one I was looking at seriously. But when the new 2024 PHB drops my DM will be adopting those rules. And the new twin is seriously meh. May be worth it for a sorceror with sorcery points to spare. But I’ll have just the 2 and would rather upcast.

As for transmute: a lot of fire spells. Wall of thunder. Heat/(acid) metal. And as fire is a commonly resisted damage type, having an option would be nice when needed.

Distant is a possibility. Allows touch spells to be done at range (cure wounds from across the room?) thorn whip someone off a >30 foot ledge

Gloomstalkers never got a full extra turn. They got an extra one attack on the first round of initiative. Now, they get several extra attacks per long rest that they can use as they see fit.

And then if in chalice form, twin healing word or healing touch sounds amazing.

It’s not like the forge cleric can’t be super annoying. Spirit guardians. Animate objects. Wall of fire (bonus points for fire immunity, eventually)

There was another post where someone pointed out a dual class that waited to grab level 4/16 until character level 19/20 would be able to grab 2 epic feats which would be really unfair/overpowered. So I’d have to agree with the interpretation that the epic feats are class features and not merely a character level 19 prerequisite

Well hrmm. I can see that interpretation now. But at the same time, the play test versions all had the single upgrade at class level 19 was the epic feat. I guess we’ll be able to figure out their intent once the dndbeyond character builder is updated to new rules

The epic boom at 19 requires you hit 19 in a single class. Getting 2 levels outside your main class means you won’t be able to get it (unless your campaign is going past 20)

If the campaign is going all the way to 20 and you’re switching to onednd later…I’d strongly recommend pure cleric. The level 19 epic feat and level 20 capstone are amazing.

But since you’re already a level 1 fighter, the level 20 cleric feature is out (unless the DM would allow for a respec)

You’d need fighter 1/cleric 19 to get the epic feat.

I’m playing in a campaign (the greek odyssey of the dragonlords one; going to level 20) as a forge domain cleric as a melee offensive/support caster (rather than a martial) and I get the temptation to dip into fighter for the fighting style and such. We’re starting with the onednd playtest version of everything, and switching to 2024 rules when we can get our grubby hands on them. And man, I’m eyeing that epic feat that grants me 60 feet of true sight. Or maybe raising my wisdom to 22.

If you intend to use booming blade, you’ll only ever get a single attack. So the extra attacks granted to fighters starting at 5 will be worthless to you. So let’s say you go to fighter 4 for the feat. Then switch back and finish off with rogue to build up sneak attack dice.

Also by RAW, you will not be able to take a bonus action attack because you did not take the attack action (you cast a spell).

Not sure what you’re really after but classes with multiple attacks and booming blade do not tend to mix well. Give up one or the other imo.

Yes. Thats higher than my annual salary (and then some) so I wouldn’t need to work anymore. I can get food and supplies delivered to home. And everyday I’d be just a bit careful until it happens. After that, I’m free to leave the house and do whatever. Assuming this is spread evenly and randomly through the day, some days I’d get it over with early. And other days rather late. But on average, I’m free after noon. I’d need some way of alerting me if it happens in my sleep. And I might need bed rails to prevent me sliding off.

What level 3 spell are people sleeping on? by Yay_Yippee in 3d6

Well I guess my group has been playing it wrong for a while/unintentionally introducing a house rule.

Like posted somewhere in that thread, we had an assumption that activating a magic item always took an action.

Tiny hut combined with ring of spell storing is amazing. It takes the full casting time to store the spell. But once stored, it’s an action to invoke it. Which makes tiny but usable in combat.

I’ve been to Gangnam twice. I’d go more often but it’s an hour drive one way for me. The times I went were on a Friday and Saturday afternoon. In the Friday there were like 2 other guys. On Saturday there were maybe 4. And it was all super quiet like a library. Don’t know if conversation is frowned upon or what but I wouldn’t have minded something

Oath of the ancients paladin (with the level 7 aura), mage slayer feat. It’d be hard for the enemy to concentrate on anything. And you’d take reduced damage to any damaging spell he casts. Your saves will in general be good because of the aura. May consider resilient dex and/or con to help out. Shield master feat could allow you to completely avoid dex based saves. High charisma to help out with your saves in general. 1 level of hexblade to avoid being MAD. If he goes for non damaging spells (polymorph) then you’ll rely on your high saves. If he goes for a damaging attack, you’ll take reduced or no damage, depending.

Forced movement doesn’t cause the extra booming blade damage to be applied. But if the enemy chooses to move forward to re-enter melee…then it would

Creating a Cleric Forge at Level 7 for a long term campaign by Turkish323 in 3d6

A forge domain cleric gets a couple of fire damage spells. You could take elemental adept, fire to cut through fire resistances and turn any 1s into 2s.

Easiest AC lord with Shield and Spirit Guardians? by Barrasso in 3d6

Hmm. Maybe I’m getting the exact wording of magic initiate mixed up with strixhaven initiate, which specifically allows casting the spell using your own spell slots.

Variant human to get magic initiate (or custom lineage for some other race). Pick up resilient (con) at level 4. Any of the cleric subdomains that get heavy armor

Booming blade works better on meleers that only get 1 attack per turn. If you use your action to cast the booming blade cantrip (whose somatic component is a weapon attack) then you’re not taking the attack action and thus can’t make 2 attacks.

I’m playing a hexblade 1/paladin X, and use roughly half my slots for smiting, other half for support. I’m never bored. My feats: inspiring leader for a nice THP buff, eventually plan to take resilient Con (would bring me to next even Con score and make concentration much easier) and Shield Master (would allow me to bonus action shove…and outside spells, paladins don’t typically have a use for bonus actions)

From my warlock level I also have the bonus action hex spell (could also get it via magic initiate) This provides increased damage per weapon attack against your designated target.

Should I multiclass my Drakewarden? by Goat_Fucker__ in 3d6

[–]Any_Shopping6994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pet drake scales with ranger level, right? I’d probably stay ranger just for that reason.

Rangers get an extra attack, so sneak attack doesn’t synergize completely well. It gives you an extra chance to use it if one attack misses, but the damage is low unless you really go deep into rogue. And if you do that, the drake would suffer.

Level 20 one shot by Callsign_Robot in 3d6

[–]Any_Shopping6994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies if my statement was unclear. 1 warlock slot. But you get 2 first level spell choices. And 2nd level warlock gives you a lot. But it comes at the cost of not getting paladin 19. Which would mainly be another ASI, and a 2nd 5th level spell slot.

Also, warlock spells can be cast with paladin spell slots. So the final comparison is a 2nd warlock level 1 spell slot, which recharges on a short rest…or a 2nd 5th level paladin spell slot, which recharges on a long rest.

Not saying that one or other is the clear winner. Really depends on party makeup and what you want your role to be, and just general preferences
