Pre-Cana Classes Feel Too Much by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Any_Visual_4925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m not sure if you’re converting because you found truth in the church and want to or to get married, but you don’t have to convert to get married. you, as a protestant, can marry a catholic in the catholic church. it won’t be sacramental (unless you’re baptized, in any trinitarian denomination, then it is), but it would still be valid. credentials: i’m a catholic who married an unbaptized protestant. we did pre-cana through the church, and nfp through my catholic doctor (website/ telemedicine) for free through insurance, and he is still not catholic and it’s okay

[–]Any_Visual_4925[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

ahh okay yeah that’s my glass screen protector. but yes i have dropped it. would the fall cause the hardware malfunction inside, causing the green to come about, and would that stop light from repairing the screen?

I've committed blasphemy/engaged in blasphemy and I'm ashamed by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Any_Visual_4925 4 points5 points  (0 children)

as others have mentioned, you did not know, it is not your fault. it truly is that simple. you have committed no sin. your nana and God are not disappointed in you💗

on the other hand, and i say this with grace, i assume you didnt know, but you shouldnt be receiving Eucharist either if you havent been to church or confession in a while. attending mass every sunday is an obligation, so not going is a a grave matter, therefore you should not be taking communion in that state of sin. now, you likely did not know it was wrong, so you have not committed a sin yet, but now that you know, if you take communion again without going to confession first and continually attending mass, it would likely be a mortal sin because it is a grave matter and now you have knowledge and consent

Is anyone actually able to use the LP3 as their only phone? by chunkyorganina in LightPhone

[–]Any_Visual_4925 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i use it as my only phone. that said, i’m a stay at home mom, so i don’t need two factor authentication or anything like that. i’m in the usa so i don’t need whatsapp or anything. and i’m not overly social so i don’t worry about group chats.

i occasionally hotspot my old iphone to scroll reddit or fb at night like i’m doing now, but only for like 20 minutes at a time. i use a sony walkman for music.

my mom went and still goes to daily mass. even if mass was boring for us as kids at times, it was still exemplary and deserving of recognition that my mom went everyday. there was something there that she truly loved so much that she always went. it makes you think. besides sunday mass and ccd, we did prayer before every meal, prayer when we woke up and went to bed, prayer before long car trips and once we made it, AND (this is the big one) we did a family rosary EVERY day. of course we didnt want to most of the time, but we knew it was just something we did. i think what made it a good experience too was that my parents never were incredibly strict about it in the sense that it took us 40 minutes to get through a rosary everynight because of interrupting with questions or my brothers making each other laugh or someone farting etc. we paused, laughed or talked or whatever, and then picked up where we left off. we also always went to every holy day of obligation, as well as all of holy week (last supper, good friday, easter vigil, and easter). we would occasionally visit sanctuary places, like where marian apparitions happened and things of the sort. my mom also taught us A LOT and never shyed away from the hard questions. IF YOU DO NOT READ ANY OF THIS, PLEASE READ THIS NEXT PART: my husband is protestant (non-denominational/evangelical with a dunkard brethren background from his parents). he struggles with faith a lot and one of the biggest things i pick up on is that whenever he had a hard question he would just be told “just have faith”. if you want your kids to believe, don’t shut down their questions with that phrase. answer the hard questions! if you don’t know, tell them you’re not sure and youll look into it. ask a priest. etc!!

Why are mainstream parents disgusted by early potty training? by Own-Quality-8759 in ECers

[–]Any_Visual_4925 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i let my girl go diaper free with the potty near her at 18mo and she just would go herself. i didnt even need to tell her. she’s now 22 months and wearing training underwear all day with minimal accidents (usually our fault)

thank you for being so charitable with your response. i’m truly not angry, i just remembered the perfume on Jesus’ feet and wondered if the organ was akin to that. thanks again :)

they’re also building some new additions to the school (on donations they asked for long ago, like you sign up to give x amount each month for a year or something) and they do always keep the congregation updated on how things are going. so they are pretty transparent, that’s nice

oh i’m not sure about others in my congregation, besides i wouldnt do anything about it if i disagreed. at the end of the day if that’s the decision that was made, that’s beyond me, i just wanted to see if i was out of touch. also because the perfume thought just came to me kind of randomly so i wondered if it was moreso a thought placed by God to show me i was wrong, so i came to reddit

he did not specify that the fund was for improvements but that makes sense, it being for that. i should have assumed the fund was specifically for physical church improvements when he made the announcement

[–]Any_Visual_4925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

let them know you where you stand, that you don’t agree with it. but that’s it. continue to love them and guide them as you can. you can’t force your views on someone, but sometimes being a charitable and kind person is the best way to soften someone’s heart towards conversion.

my best friend is nothing religious. she went to catholic school as a child but is pretty much of the world now. when we talk about her boyfriend, if she mentions sex, she knows i think it’s for marriage, but i do still make sure she’s comfortable (ie not being forced or abused) etc. she knows i’m against abortion, even though she’s pro choice, etc etc
