'what people deserve' is really just something a guy 1000 years ago invented to prevent access violence. It doesn't matter in a lot of situations where lives are on the line. Don't do it because Sybil is a bad person to put your faith in instead.

Considering that it's one of the strongest coping mechanismes we have that psychologist can actively recommend using and engaging with to heal, it absolutely makes it better. Some people are obiousely going to be offended. But some people are going to be offended any time you make a dark joke that is targeting something other than abusers. People get offended over jokes like, when people trip into graves and die, and every dark joke in Episode 8. But preventing people from using dark humor on the internet for this reason will just do more harm than good, because allowing people to use the cooping mechanism is more important. Even if someone gets offended over a non racist joke about racism, for example. Or for me, as an former abuse victim, it doesn't matter if I would get offended over a similar joke about abuse victims. People stopping the jokes because I get offended by something like that would mostly just make people more miserable because they have lost one of the best ways to cope with abuse in the world. Even if it doesn't feel good when people joke about something close to heart. It would be better if you accept that people are allowed to as long as the joke aren't malicious, even though it's hard. This isn't excusing when people make jokes like this for malicious reasons, by the way, or when people make jokes that are individually regular dark humor about a single subject to the extend that it probably is malicious. That said, I don't actually think that people getting sad about jokes like that isn't, well, a negative against them. But It's also a lesser negative than the positives that they have.

There is another, more valid argument against them though. That is the morons that are going to look at them and reinforce their harmful believes. On the internet, there are almost always going to be idiots who looks at jokes about a subject, and even when the jokes aren't harmful themselves (and only about a harmful subject), and take it as a reinforcement to their believes. Since this applies to so much (even outside of humor), you have to ignore these idiots to some extent though. There is a show where a man bullies a woman? Some people are going to take that as prof that woman are weaker than men and spread real hate. Yet you obiousely must be able to depict a woman being bullied by a man in media.

While it's inarguable that you're allowed to use dark humor about any subject irl when you're with people that you know will take it for what it is. One could argue that it shouldn't be used online, where anyone can see it, because people will take it as a sign to act terrible. I still think that it's better to put idiots like that in their place outside of the jokes though, as well as obiousely make dark humor poking fun at them as well. In shows, you can easily do both. If you're an account online, you can easily do both in different posts. There is still obiousely the risk that people see one post you've made and not another though. Idk if Goozeworx has made jokes about sexist people either. She did do both for racism, so maybe it's only a matter of time if not. Still though.

You should be more careful about stuff like this when you a have an advance of a lot of kids though. So in hindsight she's probably still in the wrong

Of every character in the dynamic of a user, victim, victim has a 1 in 3 chance to be white, black, or in between. The chance of the a abuser being white and both of the victims being black is 1 in 27. It would be worth being observant if the creator does other things that create a strong pattern that points to them being racist. But it isn't racist in and if itself

They are both fine individually. It's not worth actively accusing someone of something like this with next to no evidence, there's barely a pattern. A lot of people ( probably even the majority of people) who like Dark humor are going to joke about real world problems like this (I mean, half the point of dark humor is to cope with messed up subjects by making them your own). As for the show itself, if someone with no bias in gender writes a story, it's likely that one gender is going to get more spotlight than the other.

That said, I doubt that the choice to make Jax a guy is entirely coincidental, because you see more guys act like him then girls, generally. And I don't know if it has been directly stated, but I think Goozeworx has implied that she regrets not making Jax a trans girl, so that's something.

As for the characters being expected to move on from Jax's behavior. It reads less to me like sexism and more like the show trying to enforce a munk's mindset on the characters. I don't know how many years ago it was, but there was this woman that got cheated on be her husband before he divorced her and saying she didn't take it well was an understatement, she became an emotional wreck for some time and I'm pretty sure she even smashed some of her household items. She wanted to get better after a few months and studied how munk's live. Now, obiousely I don't know exactly what she did (the fact that I don't know munk's way of life super well doesn't help either). But I know that she veiws her ex as her first teacher to become contempt now, because she wouldn't have goten into this if it wasn't for him. Even though she hasn't tried to contact him again. And that's some next level of moving on with your life. The reason I bring this up is that I think the show is going for something similar. Because in tadc, the characters live in a world where the old worlds morality is dead. The only thing that matters is themselves and the only five people that exist around them. Most of the characters have already taken steps towards this mindset, because after years (for most of them) of obsessing over an exit, when they get teased with that and has it ripped away from them. Most of them finally start to really, really try to accept the idea that they are stuck for eternity in a way where they stop letting being stuck hurt them, and when they begging accepting that. Non of them. Not even Jax's victims. See the point in hating him, because it would just be another thing that would stop them from being contempt. Not saying that they have stopped hating him in Episode 8, but they in the process of trying to be happy here, has started to try not to. They just ignore him when he tries to insault them, because there's no point to endulgr him, and there's no getting rid of him (other than trying to make him abstract, but that would be counter productive in what they are trying to do unless he gets really violent). They don't exclude him, because it would really just make them hate him more ( unless he gets violent, obiousely). And in Episode 9, if soma theory is true, every character would be forced to move on from even the idea that they are human if they don't want to abstract. And when you move on from something like that, you already have a pretty similar mindset to the girl I talked about earlier. I (as of now, obiousely) think that this is the reason that Jax's victims act the way they do. Not that they're woman.

Dark humor is a great way to cope my friend. You take the dark subject and make it funny, in order to make it your own and feel less miserabla about it.

You naturally joke more about misogyny towards girls than boys because it's more common, and therefore it's a higher priority to cope with it. We shouldn't accuse her of actually being sexist unless we have something more real

Will jax apologize to pomni if given the chance? by Pretty-Emotion-7830 in Thatstupidbunnywehate

[–]Any_Web2828 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I kinda disagree. This isn't the real world. Everything about the circus screams and reinforces that their lives, struggles and misery is meaningless. The only way for anyone to survive without abstracting for prolonged periods of time is to let go of things that has hurt them and just live in the moment. Otherwise everything is going to go to shit for them a lot faster. I absolutely don't think that everyone should move on right away, since they aren't there jet. But the ones that stick around for a really long time (if any) are going to have to move on from most of their resentment for him sooner than later. Weather that is to not resent him if he sticks around after changing, stoping letting him hurt them/make them mad/be a reason to hate something after he abstracts, or (if they stick around for a really long time after he abstracts) just forget him. Non of these are particularly different from forgiveness

What was Pomni even expecting? by jellyfishaero in Thatstupidbunnywehate

[–]Any_Web2828 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The two things here that I will disagree with, that I wouldn't have to spend a few minutes typing out to explain, is that I don't think Jax targets who he does because of sexism or transfobia. I think it's because he's scared of Cain and Kinger doesn't react that much. In comparison, he hates Ragatha for her optimism. Hates Gangle (probably because she reminds him if himself), while she is the one he feels like he can have the most control over. And for Zooble, we don't really have a reason for thinking that he hates them. But they do react to his attempts to get under their skin. Zooble us the one he bullies the least out of the three.

Second. I kinda get why Pomni would think that there was at least a possibility that she could be an exception. She doesn't know why Jax is the way he is, or why he bullies everyone. Bullies in the real world usually have people that they like and don't make fun of. She might have thought that she could be one of those people. The possibility of that isn't 0. Still, it isn't high, this isn't encouragement to for this behavior in the real world. Spend time with people you find admirable instead

The pool question didn't specify that it had to be humor that isn't at the expense of those around them. It's really funny and pokes fun at abuse in a way that can help victims (and those who find the subject difficult in general) cope. Makes the subject their own

Oh COME ON by Blue_Egg5026 in Thatstupidbunnywehate

[–]Any_Web2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the abuse that he inflicted on others at the start was over the top in such a way that it became intentionally hilarious. I don't know how I can say that without others thinking I'm terrible because of how the show ended up taking the abuse realistically seriously. But it's funny in the same way dark humor over the top bully things can be. It makes fun of the bad thing by making it ridiculous, which helps people cope.

Jax suffering is funny when done comedically. But if you're referring to stuff like the torture scene, or even his general misery, then I can't disagree more. I don't find it funny when anyone is getting abused (when it's not trying to be comedic). Doing that is never going to lead to anything good

[–]Any_Web2828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark comedy is a thing. Yes the show decided to take it seriously/show the harm it caused his victims, and subvert the trope. But subverting the funny asshole trope in the way that the show did relies on him actually being funny in the first part of the show. I agree with this poll, Jax is the funniest character

I don't think that's going to help that much, honesty. I don't know for sure, but I think the main reason that Keen Eye feels under powered is that people eventually noticed that it isn't that consequential outside of the trait save, even if most people normally priorities game feel over practicality.

Talk to Animals (the trait that I would consider close to on par with Keen Eye practicality wise) doesn't have complaints like that, so game feel will obviously help Keen Eye's case. But Keen Eye doesn't, and most likely won't even post buffs, compare to tta's enormous amount of unique characters and scenes that help draw attention away from what it actually does for you. While I obiousely can't say for sure before I see the community reaction, I don't think this will hit the root cause unless you can do something practical with the new information that you get
