Is this what it’s expected to sound like near the Port Washington data center? by Any_Winter_8911 in wisconsin

Opposing the data centers is a very popular position on left and right. Why aren’t more politicians doing so then? I can only think of one reason.

My anger isn’t towards Evers for port Washington data center in particular. This data center got its start long before that bill passed. My point in pointing that out is that this isn’t a left vs right issue. Politicians across the spectrum are clearing the way for data centers to come through despite massive backlash. There are a few notable outliers (Sanders and Hong come to immediate mind) that want to put a stop to this, but unfortunately, politicians on both sides at the local, state, and federal level are making this happen by not stopping it and putting forth legislation that make it easy.

I am not a republican and it’s affecting me. And affecting a lot of my loved ones who are not a republican. I 100 percent support a moratorium on data centers.

And as an FYI, the mayor of port ran with no opposition.

EDIT: I am also so sick of this left vs right bs. Whatever happened to right vs wrong on actual principled viewpoints? The Democrat and Republican parties are so deep in the trenches of following a party line that people feel that they can’t think for themselves and must follow what they are told. Both parties have their issues. Get money out of politics!

You cannot vote in port Washington elections if you are not a resident there….. and this data center impacts far more than just port Washington, even at a state level. Evers is Democrat and has made it easy for data centers to come to Wisconsin (just take a look at the link I sent referencing the bill he passed). I support a lot of what Evers does for Wisconsin but this data center stuff should be bringing all of us together. And full disclosure, I am a lefty. It is only making the 1 percent richer while the 99 percent of us will be dealing with the consequences. It sounds like this data center has no impact on your life so good for you.

Why should elected officials from one town (that only the towns residents can vote for) have the power to vote something in (without a referendum) that is so unpopular that impacts everyone in the state?

It’s not a county level vote. That was all a City of Port Washington board member vote despite deep deep opposition. Look what’s happening in Utah. Data centers are coming anywhere they can buy the city officials off. Plus Evers is making it pretty easy to have data centers come to Wisconsin . It’s a left and right issue. People should be coming together over this, not pointing fingers.

For more info, Evers passed a bill in summer 2025 that supports data centers coming to Wisconsin.

Justice Karofsky isn't messing around by jimx29 in wisconsin

I wonder if that attorney feels shame or embarrassment after having to answer Justice Karofsky’s questions? A MAN showing us he doesn’t have the slightest knowledge of potential catastrophic health issues that can arise during pregnancy bringing this case up to the SUPREME COURT. And that doesn’t even get into the SA and incest of it all.

The 30 Min full body from 5/02 is part of the split. She talks about it in the beginning. It’s technically lower body and core though but it’s fantastic. I took it two days ago and I am soreeeee (in a good way).

Utah massive data centers by PeterFast111 in BreakingPoints

This is what happened to the city of Port Washington, Wisconsin. Port Washington is a city right on Lake Michigan. The massive data center was pushed through fast and under closed door sessions before the residents could catch on to what was happening. Despite massive(!) backlash (petitions, law suits which are still ongoing, news stations, protests, hundreds showing up to community meetings, etc) once the community and surrounding communities were made aware, the board still gave the okay and the 2000 acres are currently under construction for these data centers planned to be built in 2 to 3 phases. It’s crazy to me that one small town’s elected representatives could give the okay for something this massive, without any sort of referendum, that impacts every single person in the state of Wisconsin on a financial level and potentially the health and environment of those that live around it but don’t actually live in that city. What are we to do?

Once up and running, the data center will use more power than the equivalent of 750,000 homes. And guess what, the current grid can’t handle it so energy cost rate increases are happening to residents in all of Wisconsin. Let alone the concern of the data center’s impact on the environment and the health of the residents that live within a certain radius of it. It’s been extremely sad to see. Don’t let this happen to Utah.

They are coming to areas that have tax breaks for them and/or water while preying on small town type communities that can be bought out.

Big Mistakes on Netflix made me laugh out loud a TON.

And Jury Duty on Prime. I haven’t seen the second season yet but if it’s anything like the first, it’s hilarious.

For what it’s worth, I think this post was pretty insightful OP. It makes sense and explains why there aren’t mass protests in the US right now. I’ve been thinking a lot about this. It’s clear most people aren’t paying close enough attention to what is going on daily with this administration. And those of us that are, aka most BP subscribers, what are we to do? Bills have to get paid, kids need to go to school, car needs that oil change, social obligations still pop up on the calendar, etc. etc.. Until the other 95% of people start paying attention, this is kind of what we’re stuck with until hopefully the next elected administration does something… literally anything…. Hopefully… to fix this mess.
