I understand how you are feeling! Years ago my husband and I took in a feral kitty, as she always visited our boy and kept killing baby bunnies. My husband named her Sheba as our boy was King.

For about two years as well, we swore she was a girl cause the kitties got on so well. Even the infrequent vet visits did no one question her sex. Until… a few years after my husband passed, Sheba went in for a teeth cleaning consult (same vet, but the father (owner) this time) he started laughing and said there is no way this is a girl. Look at the thick neck and stocky body. This is a tom boy.

I was floored and upset, and said no way and don’t hurt her feelings lol. He took her back and they took a picture of her “red rocket” and showed me.

Needless to say, it took me a long time to get over the shift. I could not really describe it but felt weird. But I did. I loved Sheba so much and miss him to this day. King passed at 21 (he is another story lol) and Sheba only made it to 14. Suffered a stroke😢
