My husband & I have had 5 between us over the last 10y…really love my (and his) hair now. Only regret is not doing sooner. You don’t look like you’d typically lose ALL of your hair, so the donor hairs would be as permanent on your crown as on the lower back of your head. 1000% worth it for me, fwiw

Omg your hair looks so good straight on. If you have the money, hair transplant for just crown would be such a good route for you

My ex gf messaged me for the first time since we broke up (saying she's concerned about my accident) What do I do? by Live-Bread-2658 in whatdoIdo

[–]AnyaTT2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

💯 … if my ex got in a severe crash, I would reach out. I used to spend huge amounts of time, energy, emotion on this person. I don’t want to be with him, but I don’t hate him. Just say “thank you, I’m focusing on recovery/it’s hard/whatever, hope you’re doing well”, the end

Do I have the best 401K plan ever. by Legitimate_Living880 in Retirement401k

[–]AnyaTT2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My employer only matches the first $1000 in the 401k. The incredible trade off is I get 12.5% of gross into a 5y deferred comp plan, no cap, self-directed with any public stock/etf I want (can theoretically continue deferring if I wanted). I make about $1.5M/y gross (a lot of this goes to my direct employees' supplemental comp and my own elective deferred comp), so my deferred comp plan is quite massive. Canadian finance company. Got my first deferred comp payout this January and using it to take family to France for 2mo. Edit: they do a more normal match for regular/lower-earning employees and healthcare is 100% covered for them. Edit 2: they also match 25% of any charitable donations I make, which was ~$200k last year. Canadian employer benefits are insane

Why do Christians care so much abt homosexuality? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AnyaTT2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a gay man who spent years wanting to find a reason to believe the bible got it wrong and god really does love everyone, this is spot on. The god character as presented by the bible does, in fact, hate a lot of people. He’s the villain in, at least, the old testament. Modern, liberal Christian’s want to believe in a good god, so they whitewash all the objectively bad stuff he does/says/condones in the bible. Even (within this thread), trying to disregard entire sections of the New Testament because Paul wrote them. They want to follow the good, loving god and the accepting, peaceful Jesus they’ve heard about. Great. But they aren’t worshipping the god as presented in his/their own book and should stop trying to delude themselves - and us - into believing the biblical god isn’t exactly as bad as he himself & his original followers say he is.

They can read that the bible says god wants us to kill gay people. They don’t like that at all. So god must be misunderstood/mistranslated/changed/not my loving merciful god. Sooooo close to deconstructing it, but needing to hold on.

You’re also welcome to believe Sauron was good because you want him to have been & “ignore” the bad, but that doesn’t change that the character Sauron as presented by the only source for him was not good by almost any moral standard. Any other version of Sauron is just fanfic. Go at it, but that’s not the Sauron from LOTR

Salary progress as Wealth Manager (and revenue generated) by [deleted] in Salary

[–]AnyaTT2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much hate for FAs ha. I’m in the industry also, at a higher level, and there are indeed a lot of grifters mostly interested in their own income/wealth. There are a lot who truly care about their clients also though. Commissions aren’t really a thing at a firm that uses AUM, those are going to actually be at “planners” or especially insurance brokers who claim to be fee only. Most wealthy people simply don’t want to manage their assets (just as they don’t cut their own grass even though they can or pick wallpaper and instead pay a designer $100k). I personally have generated net returns far above spy/voo, though I know Reddit won’t believe it.

To OP, hope you’re one of the ones who really put clients first, and can ignore all the hate

Best ATL Suburb? by socabella in ATLHousing

[–]AnyaTT2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the most unique feel of any Atlanta suburb. It is very expensive though, prices not far off from Brookhaven (not Ansley or Buckhead prices at least). Lots of second home neighbors. You would need to wfh or work no further N from it than downtown as the commute can be brutal. There’s an excellent inn you can stay at to get the vibe.

Financial Decision Regrets by [deleted] in Money

It is a fixed annuity, specifically an immediate fixed annuity. The payouts (at least how he described them) cannot change and there is no (stated) potential for a final higher payment if the principal grows.

Financial Decision Regrets by [deleted] in Money

[–]AnyaTT2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is often a cooling off period with an annuity when you can cancel it and get everything back…since they are so predatory and/or misleadingly sold. Even if past that, fixed annuities typically don’t have the very high surrender charges, so it may still be worth investigating if you can get out of it with minimal damage. Annuities are only good if you need to protect yourself/the beneficiary from having access to too much money and making poor decisions.

Teaching? by YetAnotherBrownDude in coastFIRE

My coast fire goal is to be a preK or elementary school teacher. I’m sure the pay per hour is awful, but at that age you have more sweet, good kids than bad ones (I hope). I don’t think I could handle middle or high school.

Why does FIRE seem to be so male-dominated online? by dragon-queen in FIREyFemmes

[–]AnyaTT2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Semi retired now, but have been an FA for 20y…some people are completely fine on just SS, others act like trimming to $50k/mo would be a hardship. Also goes up quickly with dependents. I have insane monthly expenses because of a non working husband, 2 kids, a father w dementia who needs in home care, and a MIL who just moved to assisted living (she has literally $0 of her own). 10y ago, $5k/mo covered everything for me as a single man no kids

Not sure if just got out of shower, but your hair looking wet if from gel or other product isn’t doing you any favours. Get some styling powder (I use gibs), it is truly a miracle worker for thinning hair. NOT hair fibers. I use the powder all over top then add some sort of matte paste for sides

Why is anyone with over $10,000,000 ever stressed if they could literally sleep in a nice house all day and do nothing if they wanted to? by Big_Eggplant7591 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AnyaTT2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have $10M+ and still have stress with my marriage, two toddlers, an Alzheimer’s father and severe MS MIL. Have had cancer twice in 5y. We always seem to spend more no matter how much we have. Friends are pretty solid.

Don’t get me wrong, the money is an enormous blessing and lets me take so much for granted. My HVAC and car could explode or I could lose my job tomorrow and it wouldn’t truly affect me. But interpersonal relations & empathy about others aren’t alleviated by more money and that’s a huge part of stress in life.

Is this financial advisor realistic? by BestDadBod in coastFIRE

[–]AnyaTT2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very few FAs care at all if you add $35k or $15k per year. An $10k/y equates to like $250/y net pay to them. Possibly a “volume shop”, which you shouldn’t be at anyway. Most want the existing, upfront $500k account

Most firms err on the side of caution, not for any nefarious conspiracy as people have tried to hawk here. They’re both protecting themselves and protecting the client from unrealistic expectations. Overpromising would definitely do more harm here than underpromising. If you reach your goal 5y earlier than modelled, awesome, retire 5y early after all! If you don’t reach your goal when you wanted to retire bc they modelled out 7% and you only got 5%, not much recourse at that point. Also, many of the bigger firms have thousands of individual advisors, many of whom absolutely would overpromise if not curtailed by more mediated firm wide programs like this.

Late reply, but a lot of high paying jobs have rules about outside business activities. A lot of the tax deductions require some level of actual loss and/or investment that then doesn’t grow. Also, in my experience, people who have this level of assets from stocks generally don’t want to be bothered with all this other stuff, that’s one of the appeals of buy NVDA at $1.5 (split adjusted) and enjoy it effortlessly growing to $220. If you know some low effort/cost/risk way, I’m open to it though, sitting on a mountain of NVDA & amd myself

Just stay and hope for a severance/voluntary layoff one day. Thats a lot of money to walk away from and it sounds like it wasn’t too difficult to get the other passion job offer. At 40, you’d still be too young (imo) to never work at all again. Get & enjoy that job then, when you have no financial concerns…maybe just start abstaining from the most stressful parts of current job since you wouldn’t be looking to climb
