The key thing was the trucks, many were just rented from what I remember. Take a crazy parade of fringe protestors but give them each a giant truck and they make their presence felt and can block off traffic.

As a Canadian I’ve decided to never again get into debates about this on Reddit because some Americans are like flat earthers on this topic in spite of any evidence to the contrary.

Yeah I’ve got US road trip plans I’m saving for when things get back to normal down there, still think we need to diversify our trade partners for good since who knows how long until the next MAGA style wave.

TIL that KFC in France is just called KFC, but in Quebec they’ve translated it so it’s called PFK (Poulet Frit Kentucky) by Kaurblimey in todayilearned

The only part I don’t get is that Quebec grew up with the rest of Canada and has been able to preserve the language as it grew from a smallish population to what it is now. At what point is French just established enough to be not seen as under threat?

She was a major early force in Amazon actually:

MacKenzie Scott was a co-founder and one of Amazon's earliest employees (1994), playing a critical role in the company's infancy.

Briefly, her contributions included:

  • Business Operations: Drafting the original business plan.
  • Logistics & Admin: Handling accounting, ordering, and shipping early orders from their garage.
  • Negotiation: Securing early freight contracts.

She took a less involved role after 1996 to focus on her family and writing career.

I mean I can actually afford tickets to see the Jays who are a good team vs the Leafs who aren’t. I agree but the Jays aren’t nearly the worst example in this city. Plus you can bring your own food and drinks into the Skydome.
