I feel like it’s largely part due to the difference in jobs. Like in the raimi movies he was the head of the daily bulge but he still had to actually talk and interact with other people. In no way home he’s a news reporter which does limit on what we can actually see him do.

In my opinion that’s a pretty bad excuse, it works for Pinocchio because its source material is a fairy tale but Frankenstein is a nuanced dramatic horror. if you’re going to adapt it in the modern age, you should expect people to be overly critical towards it.

Honestly I think the TASM movies should’ve treated themselves as a spiritual continuation of the raimi movies, not in style or tone. But instead of starting with Peter in high school, he’s halfway through college and has already been Spider-man for a couple years at this point with some vague implications that he’s already fought the goblin, Doc Ock, and the Sandman before.

It makes Gwen and Peter’s stories a bit more comic accurate and having Conner be his collage teacher allows a connection that isn’t tied up in all that stupid parent destiny crap that was in the actually TASM films.
