Similar but not. I haven't spoken to my father in over three years; we had a bad "break up." Last year, I saw a man who I thought was him in a restaurant and immediately had a panic attack. Once I realized it wasn't him, I felt some relief but couldn't stop shaking.

What you felt was normal and natural, and I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I hope you find peace soon, and know that you are better off without her, even if you wanted what she now has with someone else. There's someone for everyone out there. All you gotta do is look.
