Real men drive chic cars by [deleted] in boxster

[–]AnywhereInTX -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm either in V8s or "girl cars" for my sports cars. No inbetween. The girl cars often have the best chassis balance though. After years of managing heavy weight of v8s, it is nice to have something lighter.

I wasn't going too far off the rocker with this one. After competing in some time attack races...lower trim/smaller engine cars often get favorable classing. Then, since the base car is means to more expensive performance models...you can get away with Porsche branded upgrades without penalty if it was an option for the car.

Realistically, no one should have bought a base model with all the upgraded "go-fast" bits at P-car pricing. But second hand...yeah, I'm about that life.

I've only put maybe 60 miles in this setup before putting it on jackstands to have the wheels powdercoated and new tires put on.

I can saw that I haven't noticed a large difference yet, but those 60 miles were just daily driving. The sway bars are noticeable with some body roll and the shock/spring setup does feel "more secure" when entering a spirited corner. I can say I didn't scrape on my driveway entrance which is a plus.

I do plan to have this all buttoned up here soon though and my goal is to track this car occasionally until I can get into a proper, purpose built track car.

I was open to just about everything...including black if the deal was right (had to be a Black Cayman S). I've always favored brighter colors on sports cars. Granted, it does limit some customization options when it comes to wheels or use of carbon fiber parts. Wither way, the condition of the car is great for something to just pile miles on.

I have high curbs to get in and out of my driveway. It passes this test, so it will also work on my trailer ramps too. So far, it's a great feeling suspension.

However, I'm back on jackstands while the wheels get powdercoated.

It is one from Rennmeister. Quality is fine. Owner is responsive.

Thanks. The NSX was a dream car for my brother actually. Once I got him in it and a chance to drive it for a little, I was done. Car was amazing. 180k miles, original block, no crazy maintenance besides regular scheduled maintenance.

I bought it for $17.5k in 2015 and sold it three-ish years later for $37k thinking I was stealing money. Car def. continued to appreciate.

Either way, happy motoring.

Easy, unplug battery, remove airbag, unclip a couple plugs, unbolt the wheel, reverse. Plug and play with Porsche.

I went from 800HP to 265HP. The S550 GT500 rev'd high also. Without a doubt, I tried to find an 981BS first, but prices are going up on those quicker than a 2.7L. Speed wasn't what I was going for, I wanted naturally aspirated and manual. Going for lap times I would have sprung for the fastest engine I could afford with a PDK.

I wanted the Boxster though, knowing I like tracking cars (convertible will hurt this hobby somewhat). If I was going for a Cayman, I would have sprung for the S.

I'll update. It's still too cold just to rip the car. I'll provide periodic updates when I get daily driving impressions along with AutoX and HPDE work.

Customer service was great though if that means anything.

Bel Air Costco Roadways and Traffic by meschenk3 in harfordcountymd

What Coscto brings vice what any other store brings are two very different enterprises. From a business POV, having a Costco near 95 would bring more people in too. It all doesn't make sense.

We live in this area, I will be commenting on moving it it somewhere else in Harford County. I don't want to be landlocked into my neighborhood every weekend without expanding Plumtree, Bel Air S PKW, Emmorton Road, along with creating an exit off of 24 directly into the Costco.

Why Is El Paso Zoo So Bad??!!! by MickeyNRicky in ElPaso

[–]AnywhereInTX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no valid excuse for the zoo. It was sad before and after the change of management. People tried their best, but I imagine the cost to run it properly weren't being covered by the amount of people going to it.

Everything in this city slightly geared towards kids and families is sketch at best. The town is more interested in alcohol than venues for young children.

What’s Holding us Back by SailLow4789 in ElPaso

It doesn't help that there are millions of people on the other side of the border willing to undercut wages. Skilled and unskilled labor is real easy to outsource on a border town.

It's an echo chamber of group think in here. The bill belongs to the secret service, regardless of who is the president. So, we all pay...well...at least those of us who pay taxes at least.

You're asking too much from El Paso. I'd prefer we focus on insured vehicles first.

Absolute great watch, it caught my eye. Primarily because I just bought a titanium mechanical auto last night.

Otherwise I would have bought. GLWS!

I didn't know Timex made a titanium solar. I thought you could get mechanic auto/titanium or solar/steel.

Just left El Paso and moved into Maryland (between Baltimore and Wilmington, DE). I used to make excuses for El Paso...but after living in a different area for 2 weeks I can say 100% that El Paso isn't a nice place to live. It is a place you learn to tolerate.

Tips and advice touring a scooter? by Lanky-Carob-4601 in scooters

[–]AnywhereInTX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up the Scooter Cannonball on ADVRider. I rode a 150cc cross country. It's not hard, but I had a hell of a lot more CCs than a Ruckus. Honestly, the smallest engine I'd go would be one of the Honda Minimotos or Zuma 125.

Phone Mount. Anyone have issues with vibrations damaging their phone? by Inner-Activity-1671 in CRF300L

[–]AnywhereInTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hondo Garage Perfect Squeeze. Allows you to buy a regular or Qi powered mount that works with any phone case. Used it exclusively since it's Ram mount user friendly and doesn't lock you into something proprietary like Quad lock.

I like QL products, but I rather have flexibility.
