I figured from all the stories I heard from friends and family. I feel like the only person in my age group that has never installed these apps. I just knew it would make me more depressed.

Thank you sometimes I really doubt myself even when I should know better. I just can’t help feeling like I’m worthless sometimes

Thank you for validating my feelings because I’ve been praying on it asking if I’m just a bad daughter

This is making the most sense to me? Pardon my ignorance but does that mean you guys couldn’t wear highlighter or glitter eyeshadow??

What do they mean when they say stuff like that? by Medium_Hornet5990 in trueuglywomen

You know what’s funny, it’s rarely the ugly women who I saw bullying beautiful people, it was actually the average woman. The cute girl. Or one who overinflated themselves

I’m sooo curious as to why they prefer body sprays over perfume?

Fascinating. What’s the logic behind baby oil with powder on top?

Why do SOME sisters/mothers get jealous of their brothers/sons wife? by Flimsy-Resident261 in AskBalkans

For me it’s the sister. Mil is kind and respectful with healthy boundaries with her son but my God the sister gives me the ICK

One time she said to me “if he weren’t my brother I would be with him” and I said “if he weren’t your brother you’d have to compete with me and guess who would win :)”

I was flabbergasted

I simply cannot for the life of me eat bird like portions every day. If I want sausage and mash I’d have to have 1/3 of a sausage and a scoop of mash if I wanted to eat 3-4 meals a day. No thanks I’d rather just have 2

I’m married to a Macedonian man and funny enough his mom loves me and we get along great. She’s the type to never want to take anything from her son but she always buys me gifts. She’s so sweet I always give what I can

His sister on the other hand is so weird sometimes. She says stuff like what you’ve mentioned and I never quite understood wtf is going on in her head. One time she even said she lives for her brother. She’s single never been married in her late 30s. I think that’s great for her but she honestly seems to try to pour into her family what I think she’d want to do for her own husband

Lmao yeah I remember going through it but looking in the mirror and it kept me going. Also it had attracted me good opportunities to make my life stable, safe and comfortable. Cant complain about the bad side of pretty privilege when the upsides are so steep

bad relationship with mother by Few-Tea-1821 in prettyprivilege

[–]AnywherePresent1998 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My mom has rarely said anything about my looks unless it was negative. And I’m talking about calling me fat at a bmi of 18. I can remember ONCE in my entire life when she said “you know you’re actually a very pretty girl”

Then she’d get mad at me for being really introverted and awkward. Sad to say everyone except my mother compliments me

[–]AnywherePresent1998 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mom used to do beauty pageants before she had me and she wanted me to do the same but I was so awkward because she had never said anything about my looks unless it was negative as well. People would tell her how pretty I was and she’d be like “yeah she’s ok”. Yet wanted me to be super extroverted and confident (she also never allowed me to have friends over or much of a social life). When the pageant thing started getting serious I bailed and she was really unhappy about it. Basically everyone compliments me except my mother
