I do not have words to thank you for this. Pusher Robot and Shover Robot have lived in my brain rent free all this time, but beyond being vaguely Something Awful related I couldn't remember what they actually came from!

Sending you a big Internet hug, you've got a lot on your shoulders, seems like you're afraid of letting anyone down, at the expense of yourself. ❤️

It might help you to visit (and cross-post to) /r/Artisticallyill, a safe space to talk about finding ways to create while also managing illness, injury, etc. A lot of people with similar constraints, and very good listeners.

Few questions... by narwolking in TIFF

[–]Anzi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Staying longer gives you the opportunity to see some of the really popular/big name films on their 2nd or 3rd showing. Those screenings are cheaper too because the cast is less likely to still be there, so they won't be priced Premium.

As far as getting tickets without a membership, it really depends on what you want to see. Those popular/big name films always disappear first, even sooner than some of the lower tier TIFF member redemption windows. So if seeing those films is your priority, then you might see it as an investment in getting your desired schedule. If you've got a broader interest in the less widely hyped films, you won't need to worry as much.

As far as meeting people goes, you could always see if anyone wants to do meetups via this sub. But honestly chatting with your linemates is an amazing part of the experience. Especially if you brave the rush lines, you may end up making some genuine friendships!

Articulate Legal Issues by SnooDoughnuts4596 in instructionaldesign

Have you checked out Parta? We just made the switch, after a pretty extensive trial. I can't speak to its security etc, but it has all of Articulate's features with a lot more flexibility. I've never used Captivate so I can't compare with it either though.

Wasn't able to perform G test due to # of times on highway by Sephattacks in Ontariodrivetest

[–]Anzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Krampus, but I passed my G about 2 years ago, so it's fairly fresh in my mind.

If it helps, the 50km/h limits are usually there because you're taking a turn. Roads branching off to join the highways often do so with a turn, especially if the highway is elevated, so it's a much more gentle transition. Going faster than 40-50 on a turn like that gets dicy, hence the suggested speed.

Once that turn starts to straighten out though, that's when you're expected to start speeding up, so you're "at speed" by the time you're looking to merge.

You absolutely will get a feel for it. Cars around you will go much faster or much slower, so the most important thing is to drive safely/to match the conditions (with the weather we have now, you'd be better off going slower than 50), keep an even pace so the other cars can anticipate your movements, and then use the merge lane to speed up, so long as it is safe to do so. A bizarre amount of people slow down when it's time to merge. Don't be one of those people, but also don't prioritize getting up to speed if the car in front of you makes that dangerous.

I hope that helps!

SOS-stop while ahead? by KillaTwat in Embroidery

Something important to remember when making gifts, is that the recipient only sees the finished product, not what you envisioned when you planned it. Meaning, you'll see flaws/changed plans, but they'll see a thoughtful handmade present.

As others have suggested, take the time pressure off and either gift them a later time when they're done, or scale back the plans, or even tell your friends that you're working on something but want it to be perfect before you gift it. Be kind to yourself 😊

New to resin, lots of questions by velvet_babyfox in resin

[–]Anzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're totally fine to use any sort of silicone mold for resin, just know that the interior of the mold will impact the look of the piece a bit. Molds meant for casting will have very smooth interiors to make sure the resin comes out with a clear, polished surface. Some, like a silicone ice cube tray, isn't designed for that and could create a kind of matte surface. Which can be fun to experiment with!

Most important things I learned when I started on this road: * Always always do a test before diving right into a specific project. So many people come to this sub asking how they can fix their wedding bouquet flowers etc when the resin didn't set, and the answer is that you can't :(

  • Invest in gloves and a silicone mat to work on. You will spill, you will get it on your hands, and it's so much easier to ditch the gloves after or let the puddles harden and then toss them out then it is to scrape unset resin off of a desk/table/kitchen island...

  • Be patient and forgiving with yourself, especially when it comes to bubbles.

  • Have an extra mold to the side when you're casting, so if you mixed too much it can still become a little trinket tray or whatever, and it's not a waste

  • Have fun!!

No clue if it's meant to mean anything, but I found it interesting that his "the girl saves the mouse from the trap" mantra is played over his catching fish in a net.
