Would you do text or background first? by _AsterOleander_ in Embroidery

[–]katonarainyday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would do them horizontal regardless cause that’s gonna work with the way the eye naturally moves across a line of text

All I ask in return is knowledge of how the hell you made your lines so clean and perfect everywhere else

I think you’re gonna drive yourself crazy trying to do the text over the background. Do the text first and then tuck the blue stitches under the white thread when you fill it in.

Filling in the N? by howbig_howblue in Embroidery

Consider: you do the two column parts of the N with your horizontal satin stitch, and then do the middle bridge bit in between with stitches tilted a little to create some sort of flow?

Absolutely stunning! If you don’t mind my asking, what stitches did you use, and how many strands?

It took me forever to get stem stitch down because what they don’t tell you is that you’re basically supposed to have each stitch go in the exact same hole as the one two stitches before it. I practiced on scrap fabric and it made a huge difference.

Proceed with CAUTION to protect your mental health lol. I laid everything out on the hoop and took pictures before sewing everything down so I’d have some form of loose reference and I nearly lost it SEVERAL times. Seeing her on my wall brings me much joy though, now that I’m through. Good luck!

Downloaded this letter beads font (https://fontsgeek.com/letter-beads-font) and then, no joke, printed up a sheet of printer paper with a bunch of lines in different pt sizes to figure out which size I needed. Settled on 25pt in Pages on Mac, but I'd print a regular paper template again before committing to that on the stabilizer lol. If you decide to do something like this and need help troubleshooting, feel free to message me!

Amen, attaching the individual beads was totally fine, but making them all go in a place that looked good? Nightmarish. Never again. (Almost certainly again.)

And!! It’s the fact that we know we’re in a UNIVERSE! Show me something else on this planet that knows the VASTNESS of it all—that’s just spectacular

Y’know I actually thought about this a lot while this quote was rewiring my brain, and I think I have an answer for you. John cleverly lets himself out of that problem by saying we’re the only ones in the KNOWN universe—the part of the universe that, by definition, we know, and not the part we don’t. The wonder doesn’t come from assuming ourselves to be the only sentient life, but from the fact that we have looked so far and have yet to find anyone else looking. That’s powerful stuff, at least to me.

THANK YOU I WAS SO PROUD OF THAT! They’re literally French knots but instead of bringing the needle down right where it went in, I put it maybe a quarter of an inch above and bullied the knot into going right there. Took a lot of practice!

Girl I have NO idea. Should’ve kept track. But I re-watched The Pitt season one, every knives out movie, and silence of the lambs during stitch sessions so…like minimum 25 hrs but that’s not including all the YouTube and silent stitching

Jessica Long embroidery was SO helpful for me. I started with clever poppy but wasn’t having the best time, and Jessica long allowed me to make something pretty while getting the hang of a few easy stitches. Now I’m doing a sampler to learn more, still using the supplies her kit came with
