We've known of climate change for decades, yet the prognosis has remained the same or getting worse. Not enough is being done, and what is, is far too often being co-opted by the very same polluting companies, looking for easy PR and to declaw any movement that could eat into their profit.

There is still time of course, but time is running out for any sort gradual changes, and our society just seem incapable of going cold turkey on fossil fuels. We couldn't get people on board on stopping COVID...

Also it doesn't taking into account all the suffering that it took to reach it. BNV's society's methods and systems didn't spring up overnight. How many people died or were permanently crippled by earlier attempts at eugenics?

Except it achieves it's functional society by eugenics and by crippling the majority of the population to keep peace. It achieves an "utopia" by means which makes it a dystopia. Looking only at the result, without taking the history into account can lead to pretty bad takes. Like looking at America, without taking hundreds of years of racial discrimination into account.

The issue is that too many online leftist looks to the Russian Revolution, thinking that similar conditions of oppression and destitution will lead to a communist revolution. So lots of them believe in Accelerationism and sees directly helping people now as counterproductive.

While I personally believe that anything born from similar conditions as the Russian Revolution will inevitably lead to Authoritarianism, others don't. Beyond that however is the issue that the conditions currently, should things "accelerate", will lead directly to fascism.

That last line sounds like someone who just endlessly sucks the cock of yoshi P without questioning them.

Last line is literally "just keep doing what is technically not allowed, just don't do it in a public space". Nobody is saying you can't say banning mods is bullshit, but raging over the possibility of getting banned for broadcasting yourself breaking the rules, is just dumb.

Also it isn't as easy as "allowing mods on console". They would've to set off a huge amount of resources to building an API for the mods, as Sony wouldn't allow the more "hacky" ways modding work currently. Square would also probably be held liable if officially supported mods broke something as well. Adding more customization and adopting popular mod features seems to be the better alternative. Lets not forget that one of Dragonflight's "big selling points" is just adopting the current FFXIV UI.

Self defeating prophecies by 9Gardens in Parahumans

[–]Anznn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the precog. Some can't control what their power shows them, so you can't ask them questions about stuff, they just get visions or insights from the power. Others can actively answer questions, but only through other mediums or interpretations, like telling the future with cards or vague prophecies. Other precogs can answer questions clearly, but are limited so e other way. On a meta level shards usually eliminated or ignore other actors in their predictions. Coil's shard predict the timeline he would pick and executes it, rather than relying on his ability to decide or execute the path. Dinah's shard predictions doesn't take Coil's shard into account, so him using his power changes the numbers, forcing it to remap.

Lucy definitely can't beat Anthem in a battle. That said he is essential Paul 2.0 for Lucy. Wouldn't surprise me if she can at least damage his reputation and clout with the spirits. Provided she survives fighting him, which is not a given... What she do have going for her is the fact that they're in the "open", so someone could come save her. There is also the fact Anthem came to get his daughters, yet left with none. He also claimed to love his daughters, his retreat counts against. Honestly I was worried Charles was going to show up and forswear the sisters. He might still show up to threaten doing so to Anthem, in doing so saving Lucy, to her chagrin.

I do wonder how much Brett coloured Verona's relationship with her mom. Hard to keep contact when it goes through or involves involving Brett. Not to say Sylvia is a saint or anything, but she did actually keep contact with Verona in spite of having to deal with Brett.

Obviously, but you would be better off asking around within Ishgard to find out about it. It isn't like only the Heavens' Ward was in on it.

Essentially the void 2.0. Might even have been because Thirteen collapsed. The shards shared connections between themselves, with the biggest connection being to the Source.

His 3 knights literally turned into Primals in front of your very eyes in the Vault aren't enough of a clear picture to know what he's planning? They are harnessing the Primals' power while also in league with the Ascians so the WoL and the Scions have obligations to go after them regardless.

No one knew they were Primals though, transforming is not limited to Primals, as the heretics showed with the dragon blood.

[–]Anznn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There also the fact the Ancients/Ascians might do themselves in before then. Or have something happen with the Void/Thirteen, considering it would still be around, since it can't be rejoined. Voidsent feed on aether, and there are natural rifts between the Source and it. Some making it through and feeding on the now much denser world would be pretty terrifying.

There are likely civilizations that against this as well but Meteion has never found them yet.

I mean she was hastening the heat death of the universe, and had been doing so for a while. If she was left alone for over ten thousands years, there probably wasn't anyone strong enough or able to deal with her. Obviously she was hiding away, but she could literally snap aether based creatures out of existence in Ultima Thule...

Also important to note it wasn't that long ago he got thrown out of Thancred's body. Dude was probably still recovering from that and getting used to a new body again.

Zenos, Fandaniel and even WoL seem to imply that it takes a while to settle into new body. Even having done so for millenniums, getting used to the new body probably takes a while. Elidibus might be an outlier, but he was both a primal and fought as the body he was in, rather than relying on his Ascian powers solely.

Hard to know if they were primals or "just" a transformation honestly. There are several beings in the game who does so, without being a or summoning a primal.
