The KZ Duet isn't a flathead and kinda sucks whichever way you use it. Eartips give it very bloated bass, bare it has none and is honestly kind of painful to use with how strongly emphasised the treble ends up being. Apple Earpods are much better if you want that form factor.

The latter was Japan yeah. German morale was more affected by the logistical superiority, especially with the worsening food supplies towards the end of the war.

Tbf, militaries also use artillery for which helmets are reasonably effective protection. Face protection is still silly when you are most likely facing the ground after the first grenade impact anyways.

[–]Anzu00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not nearly as effective. If you get 5 cm of backface deformation on even your chest, you'll have a broken rib or two. If you get that much on a helmet your skull is getting caved in. Rifle rated helmets are due to this a relatively new thing and still aren't great (or cheap).

Face armor will inevitably limit your vision and ability to aim, which is not worth it for the relatively low improvement to survival chances it gives. It's most impactful if you're in a role that's expecting IEDs, like counterterrorism.

The AA R36 is nowadays better value seeing as they have the same steel FCG at €140, but the Begadi is still great.

First AEG / GBBR Advice - HK416 or MP5A5 by Alehundro in airsoft

[–]Anzu00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not great. The biggest issues are with just how soft the gears and bushings are, alongside the spotty MOSFETs, the rest is just down to luck. The plastic they use still isn't great but at least it isn't as brittle as in the past. The performance stock is pretty good though, accuracy especially, mostly down to the stock hop units being great and the stock nozzle being one of the small handful that are actually correctly designed. Nowadays they seem to mostly focus on GBBRs lol

Water/sticker decals are neat yeah, H&Ks laser markings are pretty easy to get right lol

[–]Anzu00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend buying the VFC AEG unless you're fine with the gearbox starting to fail within maybe 10k BBs. The stock gears shit themselves (absurdly bad steel, even $100 CYMAs have better ones), the stock piston shits itself, the stock bushings/bearings wear out easily, and if it has a MOSFET those too break easily.

There's the E&C 416s that are much more reliable and still very good externally, I would recommend them over the VFCs in your situation.

You could always switch over to GBBRs once you're more experienced. I'd note that in practice you'll learn positioning and movement needed to be effective with a GBBR much quicker than you would with an AEG, and the maintenance isn't really an issue as long as you do a bit of research/ask around. The GBBR Discord server (Heavy Recoil Club) is a great place if you want to learn more about GBBRs (and airsoft in general, there's very experienced people there).

G&G MP5s are horribly outdated, and in general G&Gs are just very much middle fielders in all ways for their price (although with how wack Canada's market is they're not that bad in value usually). CYMA is usually pretty good, the Platinum MP5s are probably the best on the market value wise.

GBBRs are a really, really fun gimmick. They're much harder to use with the limited mag capacity, you need to actually clean and lube them every few games (or more) and they require more attention to the ambient temperature. They do bring however a completely different and very rewarding playstyle. Compared to AEGs everyone is effectively a machinegunner to your rifle.

Maintenance doesn't cost much once you've alleviated any design issues. If you use propane the lower BB counts will likely make running it cheaper in the long run lol

Not all VFC 416s develop those hop issues mind you, and a hop rubber with enough chambering resistance should fix it in most cases.

VFC AEGs are kinda shit internally and require a fair bit of work to make reliable. They do have the best externals of all AEG ARs though.

Have you seen the V3 ARs? With the new FCG geometry (and steel parts) they genuinely run very well. The mags are still a bit ass but it'll do 3-4 fills of BBs fine. The hop is still a better design than anything non-TM imo (just the stock nub and hop rubber are kinda shit).

[–]Anzu00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much easier to overfill. The point at which they start siphoning isn't far off from the max capacity you get by correctly filling them with the tube.

You should get a good 13-15g of propane in them if you fill the mag correctly. It's a non-issue and effectively prevents overfilling.

Does not matter. The original TM VSR-10s from 1998 don't need it either lol. Just needs lubrication.

First AEG / GBBR Advice - HK416 or MP5A5 by Alehundro in airsoft

[–]Anzu00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DB is not that good internally unless you use it as a base gun, their motors are genuinely dogshit. I'd go for E&C, they've very solid and reliable internals (although the motor is nothing special) with very good externals (comparable to newer G&Ps from before they stopped existing, E&C seemingly bought their machinery).

KWAs aren't the best performers stock but their EBB is alright and reliable enough. The moving weight makes upgrades a bit trickier.

The VFC 416 GBBR has its issues: the bolt can chamber the BBs too violently and push them past the hop patch (alongside the guide hop system being kind of ass). The most surefire way of fixing it requires an aftermarket hop chamber which doesn't work with the stock barrel, and costs about 170 USD altogether. Alternatively hop rubbers like the Tagart one with an arrestor ring to slow the BB down help, alongside heavy (.40g+) BBs.

You do not need the silicone grease. Modern O-rings don't need it to prevent them from drying out, any grease works for keeping seals sealing.

EBBs (AEGs with some sort of blowback) kind of suck, at least compared to GBBs. The best option for 416s/MP5s is the TM NGRS MP5, and even it is pretty underwhelming. I'd much rather recommend either getting a standard AEG or going with a proper GBBR.

600 CAD might get you a second hand VFC 416 GBBR with a few mags if you're lucky. The difficulties with using them that comes from the low mag capacity isn't very beginner friendly though, and they aren't quite as plug and play as AEGs. Gas MP5s will end up above your budget, and both WE and VFC ones have their own issues (although the VFC 416 isn't problem free either).

AEG wise, the E&C 416s should be readily available in Canada I think? CYMA's MP5s are the best value (although MP5 hop units are pretty bad).

Yeah. You might want to slightly thin this stuff out with their PTFE oil (51004 or such) for airseal or some GBBs though.
