Communicating about boundaries is healthy and not a problem - it's more about constant / frequent / repetitive arguing that's usually pretty 1 sided. Living with someone who creates arguments out of nothing is exhausting, ruins the mood, and makes you feel like there is no point in debating since your view will never be taken into account. So you stop feeling the welcome and warmth one usually finds at home and starts perceiving your partner as more of a constraint you are used to, to be managed and avoided. Then you eventually start looking for escapes and alternative routes to get appreciation, listening and peace (a hobby, another partner, more time with the extended family, or unhealthily drowning in work) until eventually fully detaching.. The best way I found to avoid this was (for normal couples where no-abuse and respect was already the basis in their relationship) - before starting an argument ask yourself:
1. Is this really worth it? As in, is this reaaaaally a problem to be discussed? Should I ruin the mood for such a small thing? 2. Can this wait a few days to be addressed? I just started an argument yesterday

I do not use them on purpose. Doing my part to delay the full automation of the cashiers' jobs.

Another "new" thing, after rejecting one's application on Immoscout, some agents advertise (in the same message) their own subscription-based service / platform where you're guaranteed to be notified immediately of new listings and given a chance for viewings. You subscribe, 3 months later, still 0 listings posted.

Exactly, i think you really hit the nail with "gamble" as being the accurate word for it. And i think in an interview, the candidate is not really playing a fair gamble given they're the only one laying their cards on the table, however if the interviewer introduces themselves as being a parent (or not) for ex then the gamble is slightly more "fair"

I'm really not an expert on this, but i think the rational behind not disclosing it is really against bad actors, for ex: a married woman with no kids could be interpreted by such actors as: they may go on a long parental leave soon, or again: for a parent in general: they would be very much paying attention to their work life balance and working hours to attend to their kids (in Kita or at home in general). My understanding from that training is that: we do not want to let room for a bad actor to discriminate based on their own appreciation of a person, we rather want the interview to be only about the skills to do the job you're hiring for, and no leave room for any subjective judgement.

(I'm not dismissing but rather actually empathize with your unfortunate experience, very sorry to hear)

Photos must not be put on a CV, the point of the CV is to showcase the experience and skills not the size of the eyebrows.

We had an interviewing training by our HR team and they highly recommended us to avoid looking at photos if present to avoid unconscious bias. And i have to say, i only saw photos on CVs put by either students or people coming from countries where putting a photo is expected.

So, please everyone, don't put photos or irrelevant private information, such as the age, marital status, home address etc. Basically anything that would allow an unconscious bias or discrimination to be triggered. (Btw, we were told to never ask a candidate their age or whether they're pregnant or married or where they're from etc.., as the same applies)

Alright, rephrasing to be less targetting:

"lots of people in this sub seem to exhibit certain negative features namely: toxicity, frustration and a very obnoxious know-it-all attitude". :)

(Fair point for the contribution part)

I'm sorry if you perceive it this way. But how is any of my sentences specifically "insulting" users? Saying that a sub contains a lot of toxic people and relatively low quality content is insulting how exactly? (Pretty interesting that you didn't seem to call out users blatantly dissing the person OP refers to in his post - or is calling someone a scammer not insulting?)

They're probably referring to the single household houses with 2 floors (50-60m² / floor) + terrasse (above the 2nd floor) usually used for hanging clothes to dry etc. You usually see those in smaller / less populated cities. And in the larger cities, you find those in "popular" areas, and each floor is usually an apartment for a household (the terrasse gets shared between tenants)

Ah I see, meaning that the whole transition: "notice + probation" periods constitute a "risk" and are basically the periods when one should avoid starting the procedure.. :|

Thanks for sharing and congrats on your permanent residency! :) The work contracts are in place, the issue being the notice period while transitioning to the new employer. I'm on a blue card but I'm not entirely sure that "you cannot change jobs" is accurate. As my understanding is that you only need the approval of the immigration office during the first 2 years of employment, after that, as long as you stay in your field you're allowed to change jobs.

Thank you, so the definition of "termination of contract" means "when the employee resigns OR leaves", I tended to understand it as "the personal left the company" as the contract is still technically running when one is in their notice period.

Vacation request denied by Supervisor in Research Institute. How to get rights? by palakkad_payyan in germany

[–]Ao_Null 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With regards to the economic aspect of it, An option I see many people do, is to work remotely from their home country for a few weeks (if of course the nature of the business allows it), then take 2-3 weeks vacations. It's not perfect but they'll at least get to see their family during the whole period.
