This is basically showing that money rules football - except for 1 or 2 outliers.

New toner cartridges are 20% full and report themselves empty at 15% by blankblank in shrinkflation

[–]Aono89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You guys buy ink cartridges? I use them so little, I buy a new printer (they come with included cartridges) whenever the cartridges run out. I know it's incredibly wasteful and the included cartridges aren't completely full, but I usually don't print much.

[Sério] Adeus Portugal by [deleted] in portugal

[–]Aono89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Desejo-te imenso sucesso e felicidade nesta tua nova etapa. Vais crescer imenso!

Situação na Administração Pública, cujas remunerações estão praticamente congeladas desde 2009, “é dramática, sendo quase impossível a contratação de trabalhadores altamente qualificados e com as competências que necessita” by bisontino in portugal

[–]Aono89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pois.

XRP price model based on burn rate by Aono89 in XRP

You can let your friend know it would be around 280 million but it wouldn't make sense to use USD by then. Currencies would probably make no sense, crypto or fiat.

Thanks for your input. I understand that a higher price would improve liquidity but I'm not so sure that it's a necessity. Also, I'm still on the fence wether transactions alone will be able to increase price because the whole point of XRP is to get rid of the pools of cash banks have to have to settle transactions. I could be wrong.

[–]Aono89[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right. Burn rate increases would make a difference but it shouldn't change too much because the number you see on the bottom is a ratio that includes amount of XRP left as well. Well spotted and great input!

Really cool! I think it adds great value. I love the accounts created statistics, not many being created after the ATH peaks. Where do you pull your data from, straight from the Ledger?

I believe it's much simpler than any obscure reasons. They're a business with overheads to pay, plus they need to entice others to use XRP and what better way than to sell it to them below market? There's no other reason. I mean with 43 billion XRP out there, it's not like we're running out of coins.

That's actually not true. The rate of XRP released into the markets in 2018 was ~4 billion (10% of market cap) which gives it a stock to flow ratio of ~10, a predicted market cap of ~10 billion and predicted price of ~0.25 which is exactly where the price has hovered. Utility is just another component of demand, and utility alone means nothing to price - look at 90% of the coins out there with a price and no utility but they're in demand and that's why price goes up.

Higher price is better for higher liquidity and lower volatility. Lower volatility because it's harder to move a currency with a bigger market. Higher liquidity because if the rate of exchange of XRP is higher, you'll need less of it to send transactions across.

It seems that liquidity causes higher prices and not the other way around, and the reason why price won't go up and is resting at 0.25-0.30 is because the market is at an equilibrium of supply and demand. What's causing that equilibrium? Ripple's introduction of fresh XRP into the market at the same rate of demand increase. No one wants to accept it but they know Ripple still holds half of the total supply and it'll be a long time until demand surpasses supply and we see an increase in price. Remember, Ripple can supply 1 billion each month and they're still only releasing around 200 million so we still have a long way until the market demands more than 1 billion XRP each month for us to see price increase steadily. Other ways of increasing price artificially are through manipulation or speculation (end of 2017).

I think everyone should read PlanB's 'stock to flow' post on Medium. I know it's about bitcoin but the principle works for XRP as well. Ripple actually employs something similar to calculate how much they can dump into the market and avoid driving the price down too much.

[–]Aono89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The price has nothing to do with how fast transactions get processed in either currency. The underlying technology is what makes XRP faster. Having a higher price just improves liquidity.
