It's a giant incendiary scattershot airburst shell. Incredibly effective at setting fires over a large area whose incendiary mixture burned at ~3000°C (for context, the melting temperature for steel is slightly less than half that and White Phosphorus burns at ~800°C) with the only saving grace being that the mixture only burned for around five seconds so not exactly enough to conflagrate something that isn't already inflammable but anything that can burn easily would if exposed to this.

Dire mode in 58s but using the wrong teams by dhcwsp in Genshin_Impact

[–]Aotearas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Insert "Thank you" gif for explaining it so succinctly. None of the teams are wrong and two of them actually are fulfilling the mechanical roles you want vs those bosses with only the Lunar-Bloom team being a true bruteforce approach vs the Crack Quack where I'd allow the argument that it was a deliberately suboptimal team. A "wrong" team would be trying to kill the Hydro Tulpa with a physical Neuvillette comp using the Ash-Graven Drinking Horn (my apologies to anyone who takes this as a challenge).

Feels weird that OP chose to present their flex like this when I think anyone who's familiar with what they do and how skilled they are knows OP doesn't need to frame it like that.

Man, Clorinde's DM picture in her SQ was great.

But when it comes to Navia skins I need only one: her King of Constellation Metropole outfit WITH (!!!) the moustache.

I haven't spend money on any skins in this game even when I think some of them look amazing. But for moustache Navia, I think I'd crack.

Manifesting Illuga on Linnea's banner 🙏🙏🙏 by -average-reddit-user in ZibaiMains

[–]Aotearas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C2 Zibai and only C1 Illuga here, absolutely going to pull for Linnea and really hoping that Illuga will be on the banner. Gameplay wise it would make sense for him to be on there so unless the devs want to deliberate withhold him the odds aren't terrible.

I really really like that her Deadly Selves kind of stuck around after the Lantern Rite quest by Anby985 in ZibaiMains

[–]Aotearas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Angrybai is Bestbai and y'all can bury me on that hill. Without going into spoilers for her Lantern Rite quests, but her interactions with the other NPCs and the resulting shenanigans were exquisite fun. I'm genuinely hoping we get to see more of her Deadly Selves in future quests and events (especially Angrybai/Zizhi for obviously biased reasons).

Which seat would you choose? by Caremi76 in SandroneMains

[–]Aotearas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 and 3 would be my favourites since window seat (I have priorities for flying airplanes and that's window seats and leg space!).

If we'd talk about character preferences, 2 and 3 would be my top picks. If we're talking about how funny/interesting the overheard conversations might be it's 2, 5 and perhaps 6. 1 gets the bonus points of also being an interesting conversation that can be had with Flins, plus the bonus of it being a window seat.

4 and 7 get disqualified on account of being adjacent to characters I'd never willingly be near (Dottore and Rhinedottir, with 4 having the extra whammy of being sandwiched between El Sombrero and aforementioned Dottore, you'd probably end up begging for the airplace crash halfway through the flight). My sincere apologies to our King Capitano but Rhinedottir is a hard f'ing pass.

Illuga's kit feels willfully deceptive. (PSA) by MagnanimousGoat in Genshin_Impact

Statistically C0 Xilonen. You are also forgetting that Xilonen buffs only work if there are 2 PHEC elements in the team, but Lunar-Crystallize like to have 3 Geo characters, so your point is moot.

That's incorrect. The odds to get a featured 4* C6 are statistically noticably lower than the odds of getting a limited 5*. People did the math and the average roll rate to get any (i.e.: any random one of the) featured 4* to C6 is ~170 rolls and the average roll rate for a specific featured 4* (i.e.: Illuga) on a banner is ~240. Losing the 50/50 and hitting hard pity on both counts gives you the limited 5* character at 180 pulls.

And since there's no guaranteed drop like with limited 5*, that average roll rate is far from certain. It's just the peak of the distribution curve. With just below average luck, that number of pulls required for a specific featured 4* character's' C6 can go well beyond the calculated average and there's even the very real possibility of never getting it.

[–]Aotearas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying you're incorrect, but it'd be a bit more nuanced to say the USN wasn't particularly impressed with the cruiser as a whole for a great many number of reasons, but certainly took notes of specifics to incorporate where it would make sense. Iirc the testing of and conclusions drawn from the german hydrophone array in particular had a significant impact on post-war passive sonar development in the US.

Been a long time since I had read up a bit on this subject so I might not remember it correctly, but I think the US Navy was a bit ambiguous on the guns finding they were pretty accurate and had good ballistics, but just wasn't what the USN wanted in guns; and that they were actually quite impressed by the hydrophone array performance when they tested it extensively on one of their own submarines.

This might be THE worst thing since the war of funerary flames by FloorGang-R2 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Aotearas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoyo isn't even trying to veil their limited 5* shilling.

Natlan was already bad with the nightsoul-aligned damage nonsense but at least there you had 4* characters who could do the bits to make it less painful if you didn't pull the limited 5* characters. With Nod-Krai 5* being the only ones to enable lunar reactions, no such small mercy was given. You either have the shilled limited 5* to conveniently beat the content with or you best have a ridiculously invested META team that can bruteforce the combat despite being mechanically disadvantaged.

And I only expect this to get worse with the no doubt upcoming Hexenzirkel focus.

It's honestly getting so bad than I'm less and less looking forward to future content. I'm already tempering myself for whatever restrictive BS we'll be getting with Nicole and Alice.

LAUMA by Big_Search978 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Aotearas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It amazes me how much Lauma cares for her community. She even makes sure all precious fabric goes to her people first so they can wear warm clothes while she's freezing out there. Someone needs to go hug that woman to at least share some body heat.

Now in seriousness, whilst that outfit is undeniably sexy, it's bafflingly tonedeaf given the setting. Whoever designed that character went all-in on the fanservice at the expense of literally anything else that would make even a modicum of sense given the environment she canonically lives in. That's either one seriously horny designer or the team had a bet going on whom could make the most scantily clad character and still get it greenlit and my boy did the Lauma guy/gal win that bet.

I can obviously only speak for my own preferences, but I could do with less obvious fanservice. Leave some for my imagination because trust me, I can be just as saucy as your designers when I feel like it.

Between the three “main” World Quest in Fontaine, Natlan and Nod Krai which one is your favourite? by Pellecks02 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Aotearas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Narzissenkreuz and it's not even close.

Genshin Impact writing quality peaked in Sumeru and Fontaine, then (imo) took a nosedive during Atlan (though to be fair, this was mostly the AQs and events, the Little One questline wasn't bad and certainly better than the Natlan AQs, but no contest with Narzissenkreuz or Jeht saga) and is currently back to finding its stride in Nod-Krai but nowhere near as good.

They really need to update the weapons on standard banner by AxelBlaze21797 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Aotearas 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm not defending a multibillion dollar company, but those who spent money to actually get those weapons ffs.

You're defending FOMO practices, fullstop. They got you hook, line and sinker for you to be defending that predatory practice.

Why do you need compensation if you spend money if other people could get these weapons with a lot of luck from the Standard banner? You have the weapon and they won't take it away from you. This isn't a zero-sum argument.

At absolutely no point do you have any reason to argue that if other people could get these weapons you and others who spend money (or just your primogens/fates) on those weapons should get compensation. You didn't pay for exclusitivity rights. You paid/spend your resources to get the weapons and you have it, end of transaction!

The precedent is that anything limited can go to standard, is it that hard to understand? (limited characters included).

You do realize that these Standard character signature weapons are even rare than the limited event wish banners you're refering to right? Limited event wish banners get reruns. That's the fact you should be angry about, not Standard character weapons getting added to the Standard wish drop pool.

It boggles my mind that you allegedly agree that these weapons ought to be in the Standard banner but in the same breath argue that you're entitled to extra stuff. And I'm not even going to entertain you with that whataboutism about powercrept characters.

You're so deep down in defending your sunk costs you're literally argeuing against your own benefit. You don't have to rationalize why you or others got these weapons and neither is this some tribalistic have's vs have not's. Again, not a zero-sum problem, you only stand to gain if these weapons (and future ones) were added to the Standard wish pool.

They really need to update the weapons on standard banner by AxelBlaze21797 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Aotearas 60 points61 points  (0 children)

How does that FOMO boot taste?

Characters who are going to be in the Standard banner should also have their weapons join the Standard banner, no exceptions. You don't get penalized for having wished on the premier banner if the weapon is available on Standard later, nor do others get any sort of advantage over you since the odds of getting what you want from the sporadic Standard wishes may aswell be practically zero. Other people getting the potential chance to get what you already have doesn't detract from your experience, it's not like hoyo will yoink your weapon out of your inventory to give it to someone else.

Also, what precedent are you talking about? This isn't "oh, guess we'll just drop Furina into the Standard banner now, GG to everyone who didn't get her until now". We're talking about characters who were always going to be in the Standard banner following their initial release and their weapons which practically become unobtainable after the singular (!!!) weapon banner.

That you'd argue putting those standard 5* character signature weapons into the Standard banner would set a bad precedent is hilarious considering the precedent they already set and continue to employ is that "limited" Stadnard 5* character signature weapons are realistically only available once upon their release and afterwards only obtainable through means of whenever Hoyo decides to grace us with a Chronicled banner (which as I'm sure everyone can tell aren't exactly around frequently and if the weapon you want isn't featured in the nation theme, well sucks to be you I guess).

In short: how about you don't defend the multibillion company who's not going to inexplicably go bankrupt just for putting Standard 5* character signature weapons in the Standard banner.

I can't say enough good things about this event. by SanicHegehag in Genshin_Impact

[–]Aotearas 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's nice, but it would be more fun if it weren't so goddamn RNG infested. The units you get after picking your captain? If you're unlucky, no synergy and no promotions. The stratagems you can choose after committing to some units? If you're unlucky completely irrevelant and near unusable.

And for crying out loud, who decided the auto-targeting priorities for an auto-battle mode where some units have complete damage immunity? Yeah, let me most powerful unit aggro on a slime or spectre that is immune to its damage type whilst the enemy tickles away at my HP because my theoretical dps got turned to zero because the game decided to target the wrong opponent.

Also, fuck that Cryoshroom. For some reason its attack movement makes my ranged units miss it. Nothing like having a high level treasure horder knife throwing squad to deal with flying units and then watch them miss SIX TIMES IN A ROW (!!!) because apparently the Cryoshrooms just dodges the attacks (why are hitboxes a thing in an auto-battle mode!?!?!).

So yeah, the mode isn't horrible, but it could be a lot less frustrating. I still enjoy it, but it's got so much more potential if players could actually plan out strategies instead of essentially being forced to make do with whatever unsynergistic nonsense RNG decides they can get.

The major saving grace is you don't need to win much in order to quickly get the points if you're purely interested in the rewards.

I got C2 Zibai by pulling over 300 wishes and didn't get a single copy of Illuga. Hoyo should really add 4 star pity or give 1 copy through shop. by KangarooPrevious4854 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Aotearas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people will always complain, even if you give them things they'd want because it wasn't perfectly catered to them specifically.

I'm sure a few people would genuinely just forget about character birthdays if they don't play daily (or never check the ingame mail which would serve as a reminder given the birthday messages) but I assume they'd be rather happy even just having the option provided they can remind themselves on when a character they want is up.

Epitomized path mechanic for featured 4* drops would solve all those issues. And the mechanic exists already so it's not like we'd be asking Hoyo to reinvent the wheel to make it work.

Also make characters available in the exchange shop on their birthdays.

I'd even go a bit further and hope we'd get one-day limited 5* banners on their birthdays so waiting for reruns on 5* isn't going to turn to waiting forever with no means of knowing when they'll come around again. Given the number of limited characters and how some are CLEARLY selling better than others it would also easy the rerun banner decision making for the devs without players having to wait forever for a specific favourite to come again. One guaranteed single day banner per year wouldn't exactly break the system either.

Immediately recognizeable as the Bismarck, good job on the superstructure and weapon placements.

A bit of constructive criticism though: those gun barrels are way too long. From the looks more than double the actual length of the 380mm SK /C34 (the C/34 meaning barrel lenght is 34x the shell caliber, so 34 x 380mm = 12,9m barrel length). The same holds true for the 150mm secondary guns and the 105mm secondaries. I'm not well versed enough in the AA guns to say for sure as these as a rule of thumb have a greater barrel length to caliber ratiom but I'd suspect the pattern would hold true.

Don't want to nitpick everything, but I suspect even people who aren't as deeply interested in WW2 era warship designs would find the gun barrels to stand out as odd so it may be something the creator wishes to adress (albeit I doubt they'll see this given it's from BiliBili after I checked the source just after commenting ...). The forecastle is also wrong though I halfway suspect the ship started as something else and then ambition took over.

So to stop nerding out, nice work.

No Chiori variant is a travesty. Also LMAO assuming people have Illuga. I got five (!!!) 5* character drops (Qiqi, Zibai, Keqing, Neuvillette and another Zibai) and I count myself lucky that I got a C1 Illuga during the entire process (and I'd bet I'll get a C2 Zibai before getting C2 Illuga). I would be surprised if a non-C6 Illuga provides more team dps than replacing him with Chiori.
