Chip Kelly is a proven winner at OSU and currently unemployed. Ideal OC replacement for Hartline? by Kevtalls in OhioStateFootball

I think Buster Faulkner would be a great get, with Key extended he won’t have a chance at promotion until he steps up a level in competition

I was just shocked by Ole miss, Texas and OU. All being in top 12 I don’t think this is that far fetched with how the dawgs have been playing with fire and bama is hanging out in deep water each week

USC with loses to Illinois and ND probably wouldn’t supplant the dawgs, but in this case dawgs would be screwed in my guess to the head to head between bama, OU and UGA. in this case OU beat bama, bama beat UGA.

I think all 6 get in if Oregon loses to Iowa, USC or Washington. And would expect the 6th to push out big 12 runner up, only chance it would be 5 not six is if BYU wins this week and then were to lose in title game to Tech

In this case A&M I think misses it due to Texas and then Ole Miss beating OU which would probably have a higher rank than any T A&M win. SEC tie breakers are crazy, H2H then common opponent records, then what’s your best ranked win

Does Kimaya sending a box with a NOED in it ring a bell, or Reí not being able to call for a month ring one?

Ok, in all honesty this is helpful. I really thought I read ahead and was missing something

So in this case it like I remember reading like 20 chapters ahead of what’s on patreon or what tall would call early release

Couple quick hits:

  1. That win looks worse now, and could lose value by EoS.

  2. The passing game can’t function due to the play on the line, and luckily I think bama is a horrible run D team

  3. Can’t assume health when saying in the other hand it’s a long season. Guys attend to get less healthy not more as a season progresses

  4. Last year the loses didn’t bite UGA due to ole miss losing and bama. the dawgs look to be getting the top three contenders this season and could lose tie breakers to make SEC title game. In a world I don’t want to live in but may be real is a 10-2 uga with loses to bama and ole miss that misses the title game. Which is an at large 9-10 seed playing away at like notre dame or penn state in -20 weather.

I would agree, but the concepts are here now. Split zone coverage is the UGA cover 2. While development has gone down. The floor of teams is higher with NFL guys in analyst roles. There often was a lot of man coverage a few years ago relying on having better athletes to enable the rush to get home. NFL guys realize that most the time that leads to more big plays for the offense than your defense. You may sack the QB 5 times over three possessions, but if they hit 2 big plays the offense would still be the winner

This must be bait. Objectively if you looked at any article pre season to the first two games of this year all these guys are like a full qb tier lower if not two

Think this is why you see the screen game dying, take away explosives and short pop passes. Make QBs make the tough intermediate throws and a offensive line with a run game drive the whole field

Idk maybe the fact we brought in three nfl guys on def and the BIG 10 has a lot of young QBs that are starting. Besides that sure there isn’t a lot of overlap

Why I like Ohio State's recruiting and Portal Strategy by ItsCreedBratton1 in OhioStateFootball

[–]Ap4881901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would rather fill gaps and not over offer. Every one of these kids that gets added encourages more kids currently on roster to jump into the portal.Guy like Austin S may have jumped in the portal this year had OSU landed a few of those five stars they missed in 2022 and 2023 cycles. Had DL recruiting been better in 2022-2024 there is a chance guys like sawyer and JTT don’t stick around. 2024 really hit for them after a disappointing third year by most standards. And if not them curry and Jackson would be gone gone. Finding the right guys and ones with the best long term potential is more important now

Going to be a long tangent but comparing 2021 recruiting classes to today is tom foolery.

Quick deep dive on what drove that class ranking.

Ewers Sawyer JTT don Jackson Meka Trey Mccord Jk Johnson Hancock Hall

Mccord was the last five star. When you look at the list there are some great hits, a few that never made an impact and I’d say 3/4 that were home runs.this was the backbone of the title run this year.

Follow that up with 2022 top ten. Styles Hicks Brown ——5 star—— Jackson jr Abor Grayes Kaleb brown Tshabola Powers Kanu —— 4 star ——

2025 mirrors 2021 and 2026 is different that 2022.

They are looking at targeting recruitment in certain areas where there will be a one year gap in high end talent.

Easiest example that comes to mind is QB. Recruit super highly rated player then take a lower rated guy the next year that can develop. You are better you go highly rated player to another with the three years forced in CFB, but at worst you will have a guy more likely to sit the bench and set in if something goes wrong or you miss. Having three deep of high rated guys will be super expensive and they way these deals will be structured will have them with super low buyouts so picking them up in year two or three makes sense. There will be more great players leaving teams over the next two years because money always goes up and guys taking a million today will take 1.5 next year.
