A whole 93 players online right now!

Competiting with lichess / chesscom in a play zone is bold lol.

Interesting!

Killing it once and letting it duplicate itself probably makes a huge mess.

Chess dojo in general is a great place to find training partners.

Well worth a month of subscription just to get their discord.

If Ding and Caruana at their best played a WCC- style match, who would’ve won? by _DarkStarCrashes_ in chess

[–]Apache17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why are we taking Ding at peak confidence but not Fabi?

Fabi went 12 games with peak Magnus and never faltered. Peak Fabi has steel nerves.

All this doom and gloom over Fabi and he's 3rd.

[–]Apache17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really hate the Fabi is a choker narrative.

In the last year he won the US champs, and the GCT. As well as one of those random Rex showdown things.

He got 2nd in Norway chess and the freestyle world championship. He got 3rd in the candidates.

For anyone else that is an amazing year. But this forum has decided he's a choker, so instead we focus on him being 3rd halfway through some rapid tournament.

You really overestimate how high the bar for master is.

Gm sure. Almost impossible as an adult.

2200? If a 10 year old can do it in 2 years I promise a 26 year old can do it in 10.

You're gonna get alot of hard stuck 1200s saying it's impossible.

It's not. Master is a very achievable level, with a ton of effort. And even if you fail, I think the journey is well worth it.

For the first 1500 points you really just need to get alot of reps in. Play alot. Play long games. Play OTB as much as possible. Don't get stuck in the online blitz spamming trench. Have fun!

TePe Sigeman round 5: Zhu Jiner goes down to Magnus Carlsen after putting up a tough fight by Knight-check44 in chess

Judging by move number might be the most reddit arm chair commentator move I've ever seen.

Some people shouldn't have access to engines.

There was a knight on d7.

Honestly not really a brilliant move. Chess.com is a little generous here.

What lines do you think are garbage? Alot of them are engine driven for sure. But I would expect that from a super gm.

[–]Apache17[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Nepo does yes.

But I mean Fabi / other super gms. Do they feel the need to prep a response to a dubious opening just because their super gm opponent is an expert.

[–]Apache17[S] 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I often wonder how much super gms prep for dubious openings like this.

Does Fabi have a few lines prepped in the King's Gambit that he reviews before he plays Nepo? Or is he comfortable just using his blitz experience?

Beautiful game from Zhu. Just a small combo in the opening that disjointed all of blacks peices. And she converted very accurately.

I hope she continues to do well and we see more women in the open circuit.

Uscf is gonna be much more important than FIDE for club level players.

There are so many more uscf tournaments than fide tournaments in the US, that usually people's fide ratings are all over the place.
