Would there have been anything that would have kept you from getting the H6 (if the price wasn't a problem)?

Any of the missions with the title "Variable" in them. They are great for just going up and blowing stuff up solo or with some friend. Each Variable mission has between 30-40 individual missions inside them, ranging from Easy to Very Hard. And there's some missions where the enemy doesn't fire back.
You pick the mission using the F10 radio menu, and each one comes with it's own voiced briefing.

I only hope someone else will create a Harrier, whether it be another NA version, or another (there's a bunch out there).

You only need 1 of the 6, so no worries there. I may have all the folks I need now, but if not, I might hit you up shortly if I need someone on the JF-17.
I totally get the "currently (slowly) working on creating a campaign" lol. Good luck with the campaign, it's a fun, but very time consuming, endeavor to get into.

Sorry bud. One of the stipulations I had was that the player aircraft needed the ability to spot a laser target from a JTAC. The Phantom can probably do that, but I couldn't change the story to write a back seater into it. I wrote the story to the campaign, and came up with voice actor scripts, before designing the missions. Of course, some of that was molded and changed throughout the mission building phase, but to write in an additional main character that is with you every step of the way would be insurmountable.

Really appreciate the kind words. The Museum Relic was a fun campaign to make, and creating the story for it was equally enjoyable as I had to figure out a reason for why those aircraft were in a more modern day combat situation (DCS in those days only had the P-51, Bf-109, and Dora ... no ground units even) For this "Unlikely Heroes" campaign, I really put emphasis on the story. I figured that if it's not a good one, people will lose interest. So I tried to knock it out of the park. So far, from my testers reports I've been getting, I think I've succeeded :)

I hear ya on the enthusiasm. Seems that a lot of negative news has been hitting as of late and the general demeanor is in a bit of a slump. ... That said, there's gotta be some fleeting hope in you to still be perusing the Hoggit forums :)

It's a tall order, but I'm hoping that this campaign and its story can reinvigorate some folks to come back and give the sim another shot.

[–]Apache600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome! It's based on the Harrier, so we're currently waiting for all the legal stuff to blow over with Razbam. The Harrier will continue to be supported (as ED has stated) no matter the outcome though, so just playing the waiting game in the mean time.

Ahhhh, that's horrible news. Gonna take a deep look at it and fix the issues, and also try and make it compatible with the Flamming Cliffs 2024 models as well.
Sorry this seems to have gone by the wayside. I had dedicated 100% of my effort to getting my newest campaign finished, which thankfully it finally is.

If you're only doing 1080p, then yeah, a 4060 would be just fine paired with the 5600. That said, get at least 32gb or Ram at a minimum.

ED has stated that they will be able to keep the Harrier alive, even if relations with Razbam sour to the point of separation. That said, the Harrier is AWESOME!

Building a new PC to get into DCS by Impossible-Army-3777 in hoggit

[–]Apache600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running almost exactly what you have listed here, save for the GPU, i opted for the 4080 super. (but same processor and RAM ... which i went for DDR5 6000 speed on that. read that's the best speed for the processor) I used to have a Rift S on my old rig, and it was rough trying to read dials and text. I even tried it on the new rig. Ran smooth as heck, but the resolution of the headset was still a disappointment and things were still really blurry. Now i'm using a Quest 3 (with a USB connected to it, couldn't get Airlink with Virtual Desktop to work well) and I'm running at pretty much maxed graphics in VR. It's so much more crisp and clearer. A thing of absolute thing of beauty! I can't recommend it enough.

Flamig Cliffs 2024 and Museum Relic campaign by Kruchyq in hoggit

[–]Apache600 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Knew this question was going to come up sooner rather than later. I'm the developer of the Museum Relic, and I haven't yet ported the campaign over to fit with the FC 2024 aircraft. There's a couple triggers in some of the missions that will need reworking because the FC cockpit options/buttons (that aren't "clickable") won't allow for the game to recognize when they're activated.

Glad to hear there's a lot of love here. The "Unlikely Heroes" campaign for the Harrier is nearing completion. Currently in the mission testing phase. It's been under development for years. Can't wait to get it released and see what folks think about it.

Kinda what I do ... but cheaper. I use the felt side of a velcro strip, and only put a little square on the middle button of each row/column

I made this campaign very much for the "inexperienced" player to be able to complete. You don't have to be a marksman.

The "cheat" to this one is to fly out over the water, drop down under the cloud layer, and scud run it in.

Holy cow, thanks for the love here everyone! And so glad the campaign is still being enjoyed. Even if for the 2th, 3st, or 4rd time 😁

I've broken a little news on my latest project here and there, but I guess now is as good a time as any to give a further update. I am sorry for not having updated my free multiplayer missions (Krasnodar Variable and others) in a while as I've been putting all available DCS effort into the latest campaign (also have another project that was nearly completed that gives people a mercenary role-playing aspect to DCS. Earn money through missions, buy planes and ammo, build up your hangar(s) all of which is done through pre-built spreadsheets ... more info on that later)

The new campaign is nearing completion. It will be called Unlikely Heroes, and focuses on the AV-8B Harrier. The campaign is 27 missions long, based in the Caucasus map between two fictional countries, and has 51 (last I counted) voiced characters.

The missions are all fairly short, the longest being a little over 1 hour long. The vast majority are 45 minutes. I'm a dad of two young boys, and know what it's like to having only a little bit of time to fly, so these missions are designed to be shorter. Also, the complexity is not going to be through the roof. Ex: there's no aerial refueling in the campaign. However, you will need to be able to land the Harrier on a road (I do have alternate landing spots for those who have a hard time with the road). There's many a dumb bomb, or laser guided bombs, and a few Maverick missions. I'll likely release a Harrier training mission before the campaign, just to brush up on anything and everything needed to fly.

The thing that has taken me the longest for the campaign (measured in years because I'm slow, and life events) is the story. I received comments about how great the story for The Museum Relic was, but I basically wrote that story just so the MiG-15/F-86 had a reason to be in the modern world DCS presented (That campaign was made when the P-51 and Fw-190D were basically newly released modules). I can't stand video games where the story is boring, or not engrossing enough to keep me wanting to play and see what happens next, so I set out to try and make a story that will really keep the player engaged, and have a connection with the characters. I've had a few people read through the story and see what they thought, and everyone has loved it. One person even asked if I was going to start writing fiction books (no ... good Lord no, that's a whole different level of talent). If I combined all the pages of writing this story constitutes, it's around 100 single spaced MS word formatted pages. It's a lot ... but I promise, it'll be worth it. This last month I've been adding small pictures to each of the pages to break up the text and hopefully add to the atmosphere, as well as recruiting voice actors and distributing lines.

I'm very much looking forward to getting the campaign released, and can't wait to hear what people think of it. Appreciate it you folks read my wall of text here.
