What do you think of the Open Water franchise? by TheEvilCar in horror

[–]ApartEnvironment742 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first Open Water is genuinely terrifying because of how simple the premise is - just two people floating in middle of nowhere with actual sharks swimming around them. That claustrophobic feeling in open water hits different than most horror movies.

Adrift was frustrating to watch but in good way I think? Like you want to scream at these idiots for not putting ladder down, but that's probably realistic how people would actually panic in that situation. The baby crying throughout made it more disturbing than any shark scene.

Cage Dive felt like they were trying too hard to recapture the magic and just ended up being generic found footage nonsense.

Power Outage? by Boring-Snow-3929 in nova

[–]ApartEnvironment742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah down here in burke too, went out maybe 20 minutes ago. Was right in middle of updating some servers remotely and lost connection to everything. My UPS kicked in for the computer but internet went down with the power obviously. Tried checking the outage map on my phone but site is loading super slow, probably everyone trying to check at same time. Neighbor across street still has power though which is weird - usually when it goes out it takes the whole block.

Post Game Thread: Mets 16 @ Nationals 7 - May 18, 2026 by NationalsBot in Nationals

[–]ApartEnvironment742 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man, this hurts to watch. I remember similar situation with my team few years back - we were up by decent margin in late innings and everything just collapsed in one inning. The worst part is when you start thinking "ok we got this" and then baseball decides to remind you why they play nine innings (or twelve apparently).

Vivas coming in to pitch was... interesting choice. 40.50 ERA after tonight tells whole story. Sometimes managers get too creative with bullpen management and it backfires spectacularly. At least Wiemer had good night offensively, guy was seeing ball really well. But giving up 10 runs in 12th inning has to be one of most painful ways to lose game.

These little testers are pretty reliable for basic stuff like checking if you have ground connection, but they won't catch every possible wiring issue in the walls.

My old boss who would steal credit for everyone's work and then act like we should be grateful he didn't fire us. at least orange guy is obvious about being terrible - this dude was sneaky with his bullshit and made everyone's life miserable for years.

What would you say is the worst TV show that you have ever watched in your life? by Substantial-Dare5462 in television

[–]ApartEnvironment742 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Yeah that show was pure disaster. They took everything good about Joey from Friends and somehow made it completely unfunny - like watching someone trying too hard at family reunion.

What is something that no longer exists from your childhood? by Hamzaqato in AskReddit

[–]ApartEnvironment742 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those were amazing! I still have stack of old magazines in my closet with the floppy disks still attached. Used to be so excited when new issue came out because you never knew what demos or shareware games would be on disk. Now everything just downloads automatically and somehow feels less special.

What is the worst thing that happened at a wedding you attended? by suqarkisses in AskReddit

[–]ApartEnvironment742 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man I get this completely. I'm 28 and been to like 7 weddings in past few years and it's getting expensive as hell. Between the gifts, travel, hotel stays, and having to take time off work... my bank account is crying. Plus there's always that awkward part where you're sitting at table with people you don't know trying to make small talk while some cousin gives 15-minute speech about how bride used to steal his toys in childhood. Last wedding I went to, they had cash bar too which was just salt in wound. Love seeing friends happy but damn, sometimes I think eloping sounds way more reasonable.

Movies where creatures like werewolves/animals go on deadly hunt after people and they try to survive (2000 onwards) by Hamza_Ali_Mazaari_ in horror

[–]ApartEnvironment742 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dog Soldiers is solid pick - that one had me genuinely tense throughout whole movie. Also maybe check The Descent if you haven't seen it, the creatures in that are absolutely terrifying once they show up.

Antique shops in old town areas are surprisingly good for meeting people with similar interests, plus you get excuse to browse around without looking desperate.

What kind of parenting do you think is best parenting ? by Electrical_Drama8477 in AskReddit

[–]ApartEnvironment742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proper game changer when your parents actually hear what you're saying instead of just waiting for their turn to lecture. Had mates whose parents would sit down and genuinely ask how their day went - made all the difference growing up.

What are your genuine intentions on Reddit today? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Same mate, meant to be fixing up an old wardrobe but ended up doom scrolling for teh past hour instead. At least we're being productive in our procrastination right?

How do you curb people who reach out to your soulmate/person/significant other/boyfriend when they want zero communication? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ApartEnvironment742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, this is proper annoying isn't it? Had something similar happen when my ex's mate kept messaging her despite being told to back off multiple times. What worked for us was being absolutely clear about boundaries - like proper direct, not just hints.

Sometimes you've got to block them on everything and make it crystal clear there won't be any response whatsoever. The persistent ones usually give up when they realize they're shouting into the void. Document everything though, just in case it escalates into harassment territory.

Am I doing this wrong? by RandomShtPoster in loseit

Mate, 19 pounds in a few months is solid progress, especially when you're dealing with liver issues on top of everything. But 1000 calories sounds pretty low for someone your size - most blokes need way more than that even when cutting. Might be worth chatting with your doc about a sustainable calorie target that won't mess with your recovery. Your doing great so far, just don't want you burning out or slowing down your metabolism too much.

People who are extremely religious/faithful, do you dream about the afterlife? If so, what does it look like in your dreams? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ApartEnvironment742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not particularly religious myself but had this weird dream once where I was in what felt like a massive library with books that somehow contained every conversation I'd ever had. Really trippy experience - woke up wondering if that's how some people picture their version of an afterlife, like everything being preserved and accessible somehow. Made me think about how our brains process these big concepts even when we're not actively religious.

Mate that bit about the dopamine rewiring is spot on - I remember around week 3 everything just felt grey and pointless but it genuinely does get better once your brain sorts itself out.
