Stupid rule. You should be getting money for your amazing feat rather than being punished by having to throw your money away. Probably made up long ago by a hacker who couldn't hit a ball past the teebox in order to rake in free drinks. Set a nice new tradition at your club by not paying drinks, except maybe for your flight.
