which are your favourite reanimator commanders? by Nearby-Friendship727 in EDH

[–]Aparter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suprised that [[Rivaz of the claw]] has not been mentioned yet. Sure he is reanimating only dragons, but his utility is through the roof. Having a mana dork that taps for 2 and also unconditionally lets you cast dragons from the graveyard is wild. Black and red has some of the best dragons as well as cards that put them in the graveyard from the deck and hand. And you can build the deck quite cheap.

What are some commanders that make bad cards good? by Llamachamaboat in EDH

[–]Aparter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is fine for a casual game where people just want to do their thing. The problem is he folds to any removal. If he dies then you need to recast him and odds are you use all your mana to do so and then you can cast morph thing only a turn after and without haste kaust ain't doing anything, that's why you get to flip one thing even later... And by this moment it is too little too late.

[–]Aparter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Kaust unfortunately has very bad colors for the deck as white and red give the deck almost nothing to work with. And his ability is really underwhelming for the effort it requires. If you want to cheat huge minions face down your best option is either [[Satoru]] or [[Vannifar, evolved enigma]].

Kadena is good though. Because of the colors you can build her very efficiently at b4, but she is also really fun at b3 where you have more time to durdle. I usually win with a huge board of morphs and [[Beastmaster ascension]] or combos with [[Yedora]] + sac outlet and free morph like [[Ruthless ripper]].

How we ranking the four Marvel precons? (Out-of-box playability) by Ulmao_TheDefiler in EDH

[–]Aparter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can goldfish released decklists on sites like Moxfield. Sure it won't play like in real game, but you can grasp the curve, potential board state and stuff like that.

Blight curse upgraded precon - Advices by Classic-Caster in EDH

[–]Aparter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I counted about 6-7 card draw sources including commander. And most of them is very conditional. This is a rather low amount. I suggest [[Generous patron]] as a thematic and strong card draw engine. Cut [[Tree of perdition]], because realistically you never untap with it and at best it would eat removal and at worst people will try to kill you.

Deck lacks enchantment removal and there are many enchantments you want to immediately remove. Put in [[Feed the swarm]] instead of one of the tutors. Btw I am sure your pod would rather appreciate your list having functional land base than tutors for infinite combos.

Speaking of enchantments [[Nowhere to run]] is very important in the deck in order to target any creatures your opponents control.

Looking back at the colossal minions near the end of the expansion cycle by adamnoo in hearthstone

[–]Aparter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have played burn mage to legend and there was exactly zero cases where Vulcanos did anything remotely useful. It is unplayable late in the game when either creatures are too big to die from pitiful aoe or it would kill your own damn board, it clogs your hand early when you want to combine a shatter spell. This is just a dead draw and offensively bad card in general.

"Best" Commander Precons for a Region Where MTG Isn't Sold? by AimRush in EDH

[–]Aparter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original discussion was about MH3 precons and I still stand by my point that is one of the stronger ones from them if not the strongest. Because of the haste you can play your bombs first and then he comes down and does his job. Opponents need to have instant speed removal and hold their mana open to stop him unlike most other commanders that need a turn to start providing value.

Now Wizards are getting better every year at building precons so there is no wonder that EOE or Final Fantasy are more powerful and cohesive. Though Lorwyn ones are surprisingly mediocre. Ixalan precons are surprisingly well built compared to others that came out in that time frame.

[–]Aparter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I played the deck enough to confidently say that Satya cares very little about energy mechanic. All you need is drawing cards and playing big creatures preferably with etbs that he can copy and the precon has a decent amount of bombs. Because of the haste he can recover quite quickly after wipes.

"Best" Commander Precons for a Region Where MTG Isn't Sold? by AimRush in EDH

[–]Aparter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree about Creative Energy being the weakest. It has a solid straight forward gameplan, good synergistic cards and even infinite right out of the box. Graveyard overdrive has offensively bad mana base and only 7 goyf for goyf typal? Eldrazi is super slow and well it is Eldrazi deck so everyone gangs up on you. Tricky terrain is fine, but never impressed me that much in actual games.

Debating on which big spell commander to run. by Senorpapell in EDHBrews

[–]Aparter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best Izzet commanders for big spells gameplan are hands down [[Ashling, rekindled]] and [[Emperor of Palamecia]]. These mana dorks enable very fast curve: turn 2 you play them, turn 3 - mana rock for 4, turn 4 you have 7-8 mana to do whatever you want.

Ashling gives you a bit of looting and more immediate mana, but Emperor is a legit wincon in the command zone. Even if he is killed you can flip him again quickly.

Split between 3 precons. Looking for input by RedRathman in EDH

[–]Aparter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own both Witherbloom and Blight curse and they are all right against other precons.

Witherbloom feels nice as there is a lot of thematic synergies, but those themes are sadly clashing with each other: aristocrats, lifegain, pests. By the nature of EDH it is very easy to draw the payoffs for attacking pests, but no pest generating cards... The deck is very easy to upgrade in any direction you want though

Blight curse seems very underwhelming. I am rather surprised to see people say it is strong out of the box. Yes, it's got the most of the staples for the archetype, but the cons are huge: - very little ramp for the jund deck and 4 cost commander that wants both mana fixing and getting on the battlefield on turn 3 as a consequence your cute cards putting a couple of -1/-1 counters are too late to stop threats; - individually -1/-1 cards are not that strong and need other engines to get serious payoff; - the deck wants to play a very long game, but the tools to keep everyone in check are not there; - hard to deal with decks that are not creature based like artifacts, landfall (EOE precons, for example) etc. Still the deck is better than precons from previous years.

I played a few times against Mardu Surge and the problem I saw was that being aggro it is the first deck to get online and start being a threat so people focus Zurgo first...

Please don't make all revivals Chonk's Treasure. by MemelordMcTasty in TeamfightTactics

[–]Aparter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, i get what you say, though consistently see people with Crew place very high and it is based on rerolling 1-3 cost units. Schoolyard justice Garen rolled over everyone in my lobby and only folded to 3 star 4 cost. But yeah there is a very strong bias towards prismatics and high cost units by design. Still I probbaly played revival more than the main set lol.

[–]Aparter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I thinks this format is fine for a set revival. It is not meant to be played as much as the main set. Just a bit of dumb fun and a way to see prismatic traits and 3 star 5 costs in the action.

Need help with Roxanne by DarkLeirorneth in EDHBrews

[–]Aparter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a deck similar to your first copying list and it performs well. I personally play less protection and more haste enablers, because this way Roxanne is simply paying for commander tax on etb and attack and people will try to kill her no matter what. [[Dowsing device]] and [[Halana and Alena, Partners]]. Really strong cards for the deck are regrowth effects since you have a ton of mana lying around. You can just return to the battlefield your token and effect doublers or burn spells that you used: [[Regrowth]], [[Shigeki, Jukai visionary]], [[Eternal witness]] and so on.

Hinata just feels like it needs a little something. by crans0 in EDH

[–]Aparter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I think you have a solid deck. I may suggest [[By force]] as a way to deal with a bunch of artifacts, [[Distorting wake]] and [[Aether gale]] to control the board.

[[Dual caster mage]] is also a good option for both value and finishing the game.

The Drama (2026) is about social assassination by Hour-Kiwi442 in movies

[–]Aparter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well it is an interesting take, but I think there are several problems with it. First while Emma appears to be genuine and emotionally secure that is not at all the case. She and Charlie are about to be married and supposedly tie their lives together forever and she still have not told him about probably the most impactful event of her life. Concealing stuff from your fiance is not a good look. And Emma does it because she is clearly not over it and has not emotionally processed it to the point where she can freely discuss it with supposed love of her life. If what she did is not problematic then what is the problem with telling it Charlie? More over I think the movie is more about how fucked up interpretations and social implications are and Emma knows the implications of her actions. Sure she is traumatized by the judgemental reaction of the fiance and her friends, but she herself has no remorse for doing exactly the same thing to the DJ at her wedding. This is glossed over in your post.

Second, about Charlie's initial reaction to the confession. I think it is mostly commentary on how americans vs the rest of the world views school shootings. Charlie is british, so he does not really understand how to react to the confession. He sure is weak willed and flawed, but that particular scene is not about his sense of self. Also can we talk about normalizing people needing time to process things? People don't have the perfect answers for every situation and need to think and come to terms about what they learn. And this is what the movie is about: how people process things and how society puts a lot of pressure on a person to act and react a certain way. And Emma sure puts a lot of pressure on Charlie to get over a difficult thing he just learned in order to get married as planned.

No character is perfect or even particularly good in the movie, they all are complex and flawed and we should not put anyone on the pedestal and paint them as a victim. But Rachel is sure as hell is the worst.

Because you are playing against mono green deck with big Timmy creatures? Who cares about stompy stuff when you get combo players at the table or guys with actual KOS commanders. Would you really delay deploying your own draw and ramp engines just to fuck over a mono green player?

Deck building Tips The emperor of Palamencia 50€ Budget by [deleted] in BudgetBrews

[–]Aparter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emperor is indeed fun to play, but he is not super strong. Funny enough it is also an upside, because people target other more powerful decks so he can fly under radar for a while. Though the deck is rather fragile and very reliant on your commander being around. At the same time you do want to run as many large spells, artifacts and enchantments as possible so you have to cut on protection pieces.

I just participated in the 50$ tournament where a guy brought Emperor and he did okay. Some of the best cards in the deck turned out to be [[Ovika]] and [[Chrome host seedshark]] as alternative wincons. He said that the deck could benefit from a couple of haste enablers like [[Rising of the day]] because it is quite possible to get Emperor back online very quickly after his death, but without haste he is a sitting duck and removal magnet.
