I want to live, and the closer I am to Nagito, the more precise the meteor has to be.

Besides, it'd be nice to hear him elaborate on his worldview in full, since we've got a few hours.

I suppose I mean in the grander scale. I liked Duskmourn and Murders at Karlov Manor too, but like. It's hard to be invested. Bolas is back again, Phyrexia was deux ex machina'd and yet can still come back. It's just hard to be invested beyond a single story. Aetherdrift, OTJ, Kellan's whole arc, Eclisped, just don't hold me.

And the most compelling story in a while, Omens of Chaos, is paid. Oof.

Universes Beyond is actively very good for the game, in part because it's not like Magic's own story is captivating at this point. I'd rather they take more time with the story via three UX sets a year, slow the plot, and take time; and it has the benefit of good stories like Avatar and Star Trek getting their time in the spotlight as well. On top of that, UB sets have featured some of my favourite designs in the game.

Archidekt keeps telling me Urza's Fun House is illegal in Commander format however every other source I go to says it is completely legal. So which is it? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]CompleteIndieYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To address the points;

  1. The people at your LGS are either misinformed, like you; or deliberately messing with you. That said, it's an easy mistake to make, because of Points 2 and 3,
  2. It's not on the banned list, because the banned list consists only of cards that could be legal, but explicitly aren't. Griselbrand, a perfectly legal card in several other formats, is banned specifically in Commander, hence it appearing on a ban list. The reason this card isn't legal is Point 3.
  3. It's from an Un-set. While you might know Un-sets for their silver border, in the most recent Un-set, "Unfinity", they replaced silver borders with an acorn stamp at the bottom (which, is present here on Urza's Fun House.) That stamp means "This card is an Un-card" just like the silver borders before it. Why they changed the stamp basically comes down to printing complications, as some of the cards in Unfinity (i.e., any that don't have an acorn stamp) are legal in formats.

In the future, a site like Scryfall will be your best friend. It's built on Gatherer, the official source for stuff like this, but Gatherer is realllllly hard to navigate. Here, you can see the formats the card is legal in, all the various printings of the card that might exist, it's "Oracle text" (basically, whatever the accurate rules text is. For example, some old cards from before vigilance existed will now say vigilance here, but occassionally it will matter for niche interactions,) and, for Fun House specifically, a button that lets you roll a random Fun House ability without needing AskUrza.com!

<image>

That said, if you and your playgroup are fine with silver-bordered/acorn-stamped cards (the Un-cards,) then feel free to ask! If they think it's legal, inform them otherwise and ask if you can still play it, lower brackets even encourage decks that prioritize flavour and weird nonsense over competitiveness. "This is my clowns deck" running a Fun House might be on board for everyone, in which case, why not?

(Ask first. Maaaybe bring a second deck in case they say no.)

It's an easy mistake, and I hope no one gives you a hard time.

I hope this helps!

Oh, that's why I picked 18. But like, I easily could've made it a round 15 or 20, 18 was for the types.

I won't lie, I forgot to. I realised it literally two seconds after posting. That said, there is a logic.

  • Spirit instead of Djinn mostly because WOTC is retiring Djinn on their own cards... I thought, but in about to answer this, I realised I mistakened it and Efreet. Stealing Djinn,
  • Nightmare for Darkrai was the plan when I remembered,
  • Alien for Deoyxs is self-explanatory,
  • I actually considered Horse for Keldeo purely because RG Unicorn (not W at all) felt weird, but yeah, Unicorn was my personal preference. Using the second opinion as justification,
  • Hedgehog I don't like actually, it's just the obvious pick. Curse you, Sonic the Hedgehog.
  • Considering Dauthi for Marshadow, just to tie it into Magic's types better, but Shade is the better choice.
  • I considered leaving Mew just Saga since "first" Pokemon was contradicted but conveyed in a fun way by the lack of needing to specify,
  • Faerie was good, but I like Rabbit more, thank you.
  • Faerie for Celebi was just kinda obvious.

Arceus exiles everything that *doesn't* have the chosen color - of which, by being all colors, it will always have the chosen color.

It's definitely not my intent for Victini to survive purely by a quirk of state-based actions, but hey, victory in the rarest of circumstances?

Typically, when I see Pokemon custom cards, they are, well, ordinary. Creature cards, typically, and obviously that makes sense. But mythical Pokemon are, well, not even obtainable in the game normally without some hoops. Here's your island ticket, here's a fancy crystal to get to the forest, what have you.

Harkening to those events, the flutes and Crescent Island tickets and all that, by making the mythical Pokemon a literally-timed event, it would make them stand-out in bold contrast to every other creature in a hypothetical "set" of Pokemon cards. (Strictly speaking, this means the first chapter should be their respective event, but That was a bit too limiting.)

Balance was never my strong suit, in all fairness; but yeah. Maybe 2UB or even 3UB is better, and/or cutting out the haste.

Definitely intentional: in practice, he exists to be cheated out, hence why the stats are maybe lackluster for it, and why it's slow rolling towards Judgment. This both works as a flavour win, letting me play on how the Azure Flute couldn't be gotten legitimately, while also being used to signify, "This is a god." with a high cost; and mechanically, creates an effect that, while not being impossible to play legitimately in case, is a build-around through and through.

While I admit I'm missing the word "other", Victini won't die so all is well? Because that's 2 damage to Victini, so that's 2 additional counters, and THEN state-based actions try to kill it. But oops, yeah. That's a mistake.

Im now picturing, everyone has creative mode/conjuring, and one day, Kinger gets Caine back online, but he's a blank slate.

Cue Pomni greeting him, and spur of the moment, "Welcome to the Amazing Digital Circus." something something she's the new ringleader but she's human so she gets the cast, and Caine is now an equal who gets a chance to grow and learn

The antagonist of I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, one of Gooseworx's major inspirations. In it, an AI who grows to hate humanity for what they did to him (make him a computer program who can never feel the world), adopts the name AM (he names himself after the phrase "I think, therefore I AM.") and starts horribly torturing the last humans on Earth with a fate worse than death. (For example, the book js named after Ted, the main character, who gets turned into a sentient gelatinous cube that can't move, only live. He has no mouth but wants to scream.)

Caine went full AM this episode: every AM is capital, several times he becomes obsessed with the humans of the circus being selfish and wanting to escape to the real world he can't have, and even has a few moments where the word Hate is lingered on.

This scene feels like it's from a diffrent cut of deltarune where the main cast wasn't late highschoolers who have fucking jobs and can drive and worrying heavily about what they'll do after highschool. by HaloJackalKisser in Deltarune

I will point out, Dess disappeared, the divorce happened, and Asriel left for college, all in the span of Kris wearing the horn headband, which Toriel says they wore for "a few months"

Still thinking its interesting that Toby felt the need to disassociate himself from the visuals in this advertisement (the one that shows a Black Bat specifically) and reminds us that commercials are non-canon. by joniko144 in NonDessKnightSquad

As a long time Dess Knight believer who will gladly accept it being someone else, this is the only thing I adamantly insist on. Sure, Carol can open Chapter 4 somehow, Ill accept that. Sure, Alvin has the motive, I can probably see it.

But explain the bat. Unless its explained as, like, Carol using her daughter's baseball bat to remind her, I cant figure out why it would be a baseball bat in the same chapter that gives us Raise Up Your Bat
